“Once the game starts, neither team is allowed to gauge the footballs, pump them, or the like. That is solely the province of the referee, who is to be the ‘sole judge’ of whether footballs comply,” the Patriots wrote. “The Colts, with advance concerns about psi, did not take the issue to the referee. They took the matter into their own hands and had an intern gauge the football. (pg. 63) This conduct was in violation of Rule 2. Nowhere does the Report identify this conduct as a violation of the Rule.”

Sorry but the league "swore" them in as deputies prior to the game so in essence they were League officials as well as playoff doormats.

Where did you find this was it in the wells report in context?

Dosent matter much

the Colts did nothing wrong.

they circumvented the rules to punish the Pats

nothing else can be said

I'm getting old...when I saw "Colts" and "Deputy", the rest of the sinister 9 year olds at 345 Park Ave and in Indy had the same inspiration to try and do right for the greater good of mankind.

...and those Colts can be quick with those PSI gauges.

The Colts are not the Patriots. We have special rules for non-Patriots. We generally tell them to stop right now (pretty please!), or at least try to taper off.

Regards,
The NFL

Let's face it though, being the Colts is punishment enough.

Think about it: every year they draft/sign players with the intention to overcome their biggest obstacle - beating the Patriots. Their coaches, players, and fans swear that "this time will be different." Every time they play the Pats, it is essentially their SB. Yet what happens every time we play them? We not only beat them, but we humiliate and bully them on national TV.

The league doesn't need to punish this extremely effeminate organization. We already do that every time we play them.

It really is funny. Krafty is trying to operate above the fray and be mindful of the "we are 1 of 32" but the problem is everyone is operating below him.

Hes a cross between Don Corleone and King Odin from Thor.

Their punishment will be revealed when they meet the pats in the playoffs

I've been wanting an answer to this since the day the ******** wells report came out. Further proof that the league conspired to nail the Pats. What a sham. Kraft sucks.

Kraft's cowing to the 31 serves notice to all that he is willing and eager to accept whatever disparate punishment the 31 & NYFL league office capriciously decide to inflict on him with no reciprocity or consequences to the other 31 in similar situations. I'm not joking. It IS that bad. Thanks Bob.

Too bad the Putz didn't bother to ask Goodell about the Colts violating the rules or why old Woody only received a wrist slap for tampering before bowing down and kissing Goodell's rear.

This part really frustrates me. There is no way the Colts should get away with tampering with the the footballs. Ugh.

1) Are you implying that if a ball pump or gauge was found on the Pats sidelines, instead of the Colts, the finding would be part of the punishment from the Wells report?

2) My favorite new point in the recent weeks is that the teams and players agreed to the NFL standard that evidence for one conclusion should outweigh evidence of the opposite conclusion. Instead, Wells applied "more probable than not, since we don't have direct evidence", which is quite different and focuses on the little evidence that something could possible happen than the tons of evidence showing it didn't.

Actually tampering with the ball is not a problem, being rumored to be tampering with the balls is where the NFL* draws the line.
