I like this deal is it comes to fruition ... Kristaps Porzingis could be gone as early as #3 or #4 ....

However ... if he's there at #8 some are speculating trading Olynyk and picks ... I like Kelly however he's really not a great fit in Brad Stevens system which is going to be interchangeable players that project well on offense and defense ... Olynyk will never be a defensive force but will fit well on a team that values scoring from a 7-footer. They could still gamble on Upshaw at #28 ... or gamble on anyone at that spot if they wish.

The Pistons trade 8th overall pick to the Boston Celtics.
Celtics send back Kelly Olynyk, 16th & 33rd overall picks.

I don't think he's there at 8 either.

If Danny wants to trade players & picks, then he should use them to acquire DeMarcus Cousins from Sacramento, who I heard on the NBA Radio might have to trade him in order to appease George Karl.

If that doesn't work, then I hope there's a run for Guards so that one of almost a 1/2-dozen Bigs that are ranked similarly falls to 16.

Feck you Danny; feck you to hell. You just drafted the next JR Giddens, you stupid, arrogant, midget-loving scumbag.
What the feck, have you been taking drafting lessons from the Patriots, you a-hole?

relax. i think he has a trade in the works and Rozier will back up Thomas at PG. Smarts gone i think

if not then yes, this is a stupid pick

another guard:mad: they take a guard every year. just because ainge was a guard doesn't mean he has to take one every year.

more guards means he can trade one or two

I am old school, but do not understand what the Celtics are doing.. seems as though they are redefining "small ball"..

Curious pick by the Celtics there. I have to think that there's a trade in the works. If it makes you guys feel any better, I love the Winslow selection by the Heat. ;)

Winslow was my favorite player in the entire draft. I think he and Devin Booker will end up being the two best of this draft. I also liked Rondae Hollis-Jefferson a lot.

Oh well. All we can do is wait and see how it plays out.

The really maddening thing is that supposedly Danny tried very hard to trade with the Hornets for #9 in order to draft Winslow, but had they simply followed my advice and started tanking after the trade deadline, Winslow might be a Celtic today,
either by being drafted by them or by being acquired by them because Charlotte might find that the #12 pick could still get them Kaminsky.

You mean the drafting that resulted in 6 SB appearances and 4 SB wins in 14 years?

Brady has infinitely more to do with those SB appearances than Bill's recent drafting does.

Right. I'm sure Brady could make it to six SBs if you threw him out there by himself! Plays defense and special teams too!
Oh wait, BB drafted Brady.

I don't think he was suggesting that Brady take the field alone

I think the point is, that Brady makes up for a ton of mediocrity elsewhere on a team, and there have certainly been plenty of high but mediocre draft picks by Belichick (as well as some true winners throughout the draft and among the UFAs)

But comparing the NFL and NBA drafts is like comparing apples and a sirloin steak

For a team like the Celtics, drafting quality players is key - they're just not going to attract free agents without them

As far as the Celts not tanking and thus missing out on Winslow, I came to feel that Stevens teaching his players to win and work together as a team was a good move long term

As the Captain points out above, they may regret not tanking given their efforts to grab Winslow

It's worth keeping an eye on

First day of free agency they add Crowder for 5 years, Jerebko for 2 and Amir Johnson for 2... the roster is starting to take shape. Not as big a splash as had hoped, but lots of depth on this roster..

Stay tuned, still too many guards on this team...

Yeah - once the 76ers know where they stand with injuries etc I'd think that rumor about Ainge being interested in Noel will heat up again

I would absolutely love Massachusetts native Noel here, but I'm afraid that Danny doesn't have enough talent/assets to convine Philly to trade him, especially to a division rival.

I suppose you could say the same thing about trading a quality guard plus draft picks to a division rival

Both teams are a bit in the same boat - I don't think Ainge would balk if it was a player he valued.
