Matt Light http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/...t_predicts_roger_goodell_will_lose_power_over

"There are rules that (Goodell) wrote, he and his team wrote, to deal with any tampering of the footballs," Light said. "He chose to ignore them completely and started a witch-hunt that has now resulted in Deflategate. He obviously can't follow his own rules. He can't be consistent with the manner in which he disciplines people. I think the power will be taken from him by the owners, and the rest of the league, and the NFLPA because it's in the best interest of everybody at this point."

Matt Light has always been a fav of mine as we share a common sense of humor but what in hell makes this otherwise smart guy think that the revenue obsessed 31+1 will take power from their boy Goodell whom they shower with 10s of million$ of their money yearly?

Ya...money talks and hard to see Goodell walk

What exactly is it that has made Goodell uniquely responsible for the NFL's success? He has built on the success of others and there are other competent managers would would have done at least as well.

Was on the CSNNE site reading something Curran wrote and to the right was a video titled "Shaughnessy: I still don't believe Brady wants court"

I despise this Boston anit-Pats mediots. You can tell they are just so scared with their continued "Brady needs to take his medicine" and "he doesn't want court" rhetoric. They are all scared that when this does go it will be overturned like every other suspension in goodell's tenure that has gone to court.

Does idiot think Schefter is going around guessing that this will go to court if Brady's suspension is reduced to 0 games. This is the guy that just ***** slapped the NFL yesterday on another one of their lies. Ya Schefter is just guessing that it will go to court and he has no source from Brady and the NFLPA's side.

What concerns me is that as far as I know, there is no set date on which the appeals decision must be revealed. For all we know, Goodell could announce his decision on Sept. 9, the day before the first regular season game.

Any more updates from your sources about how the appeal went?

Brady's side felt it went as well as it possible could, but acknowledges that the NFL holds all the cards. My sense is that Roger Goodell wasn't swayed to the point that he'd be prepared to vacate the suspension.

and this too

Mike the standard for overturning an arbitration award is very high and requires a showing of fraud, corruption, bias, or arbitral misconduct. I'm sure as fans we feel those things exist in abundance. But it's still very unlikely.

Thanks Jason. Like I said, I go by what legal experts tell me, because I really have no idea. One of our ESPN experts said the likelihood of overturning an arbitrator's decision is 1 in 100. If that's the case, it sounds to me like Brady has an uphill battle in court.

How the fu.ck can that possibly work when the arbitrator was the one who gave the punishment in the first place?! I FUC.KING HATE ALL THIS BULLS.HIT

I guess some CBA wording which the players are regretting now. Iam sure NFL and its lawyers went through that before continuing with goodell as the arbitrator.

Which has been a huge concern from day one. I don't believe that he can get away with being that obvious, but I also don't expect a decision until August at the earliest.

That could still give Brady a month or so to file a case and ask for the injunction to allow him to continue playing until its resolution.

Personally, I think it will be reduced to two games, so the argument may be over two games. Whether that ends up (worst case) as weeks one/two, or weeks ten/eleven (for example) may not matter much. If there's potential to miss any games come December, that may be a different story from a team-based standpoint.

Yep- It was totally like Animal House...Dean Wormer puts the frat on suspension...presides over the hearing..

I wish the Wells report had come out back in February because we'd be in court by now. It's not like the NFL had to take until May to figure out what they were going to say, they knew back in January.
Come on, you can't expect Wells to have figured out how to jump through all those hoops to implicate Brady in just a month! They had to pour through thousands of inconsequential text messages to find the golden nugget they could spin AND find a science firm that was corrupt enough to ignore basic principles of science and data analysis, that kind of stuff takes time.

Brady does not need to wait for Dean Wormer. He can sue their azzes right now if he wanted to.

And we can, in large part, thank Robert Kraft for helping the NFL screw over the PA in the labor negotiations back in 2011. What a guy.

I would place the blame on the players much more, considering that they've been agreeing to this for decades.

I'll join you in piling on Kraft though, as I share your frustration.

Seriously, there MUST be some recourse when the process is this blatantly slanted against the player. I refuse to believe that guy who was telling Mike Reiss that it was a "100 to 1" chance. It makes no sense at all. No body of law on earth would consider the very man who began the investigation and handed down the punishment as a neutral party. The very idea of it should be enough to warrant a lawsuit about impartiality and conflict of interest.

Didnt you know that the NFL is Communist?
