Time For Brady To Capitulate And Move On

The author argues that Brady and the Patriots may not want their dirty laundry exposed as if the NFL would.

Mein Kampf makes more sense than anything tabled by Bob "Costanza" George.

I don't care what happens. I'm all in.

I want Brady to file the suit. I want discovery. I want all the NFL guys under oath.

If a judge rules the NFL was wrong and grossly unfair, but there is nothing that can be done and Brady is suspended for a late season game, so be it. I'm willing to risk it.

If it's bad enough Goodell will have been fired and that is the greater good. The sad part is nobody -- either on the pro or anti Brady side believes Goodell doesn't already have his mind made up, regardless of facts. That reflects as poorly as is possible on the NFL as well as him.

"There is a reason why Kraft laid down his sword in February at the owner’s meetings. It would not be stretching things to suggest that Kraft tell Brady to do the same thing if he cannot win this appeal, which in all likelihood he won’t. Kraft would like this affair, which has gone on far too long, to just be over."
========================

I hate the fact that I have to explain this to a writer for Patsfans - but I'd suggest Bob George look into the routes of legal recourse that Bob Kraft has at his disposal

If Kraft decides to fight the NFL and question/overturn their anti-trust exemption and authority in this case he's effectively shooting himself in the foot as an NFL owner.

Sure he may win the PR battle but he'd lose the war, creating consequences for his own profitability that go far beyond Deflategate

People can decry Kraft for picking the money over the credibility of his organization, but Kraft also knew this was going to be challenged by Brady in a venue where he can successfully defend his name and in doing so the name of the organization.

This route, with Brady and Kessler challenging the Wells Report, unlike Kraft going after his own league, winds up being a win win - which is likely part of the reason why not only is the "WellsReportInContext.com" still up, but it's still being updated with the blessing and support of Kraft

Kraft let his emotions speak for him when he issued his mandate for an apology but I think once his route of legal recourse was explained to him he had no choice but to back down - though that really doesn't reflect on the strong case that Brady has to make - it just reflects the economics of the NFL

I personally don't fault Kraft for his choice - I think it's understandable that he's choosing not to undermine his own organization's profitability. I know many fans are upset with him because they don't understand the legal nuances - but I'd expect any writer for Patsfans to comprehend this better.
Kraft did not even exhaust his appeal options within the NFL owners agreement. His argument that he wanted to end the bad publicity: "I don’t want to continue the rhetoric that’s gone on for the last four months. I’m going to accept, reluctantly, what he has given to us, and not continue this dialogue and rhetoric...". That explanation made no sense at the time and has been disproved as the circus that is Deflategate rolls on.

Well, after reading this title..... I couldn't push the right hand to the screen, even using my left hand to try and force it, to touch the url.

Until now I never truly appreciated how unspeakably filthy the notion of a touchscreen could be.

Am I the only one who thinks maybe, just maybe, Brady and his team have already been over the whole "Pats dirty laundry" scenario? Can we please stop talking about it? It sounds as stupid as the "Goodell has MORE on Brady to throw at him in the appeal". Just utterly moronic statements said by the dregs of society.

Seriously *******, if you've thought of it, a bunch of high priced lawyers have thought of it, gone over the pros and cons, gotten a risk analysis done, and made a decision already. Stop acting like you're some genius who thought up some excellent conspiracy theory ready to be made into a straight-to-DVD movie.

Bob George sounds like 3/4 of the posters on NFL Memes and PFT's comments section. I cannot possibly insult someone lower than that.

Why is Boy George writing sports news?

If you're not familiar with PR-speak, you don't exactly come out and describe the legal and financial nuances of this to your fanbase (even though most should be savvy enough to understand it)

Kraft realized at the owners meetings that he was going down a road of attacking the very institution the Patriots play within - and attacking the NFL is effectively attacking the Patriots, their profitability, and thus, their ability to attract and retain the best players

Look - I'm not trying to talk anyone into or out of their opinions as to whether Kraft was right or wrong to put money ahead of the reputation of the team - even if that meant undermining the very league Kraft depends on for his profit margin

I'm just saying I understand his reasoning and that the legal route open to him was ultimately a dead end - best get off it sooner than later and put your marbles on Brady's court case

I keep hearing this argument, but I don't buy it. Al Davis didn't 'undermine' the NFL. Al Davis' victory over the NFL actually led to other owners moving and getting better stadium deals for their teams.

I say we keep this thread stickied on the top of the forum until next season for posterity.

And send a strongly worded letter in support of Brady, by gum, because you cannot bother to show up in person.

He'd tumble for ya........

Gawd, there are two bad tunes from the 80's I can't get out of my head now..

Maybe this bit of 80s silliness will block them!
