In his defense, Florio has stood up more than Bob Kraft has. Also I'm pretty sure he is right that the people saying Brady was great, are from the Brady camp.

The tide has definitely turned on this, of course, I still fully expect Goodell to double down on his stupidity and not remove the penalties.

Or if he does offer to reduce it, it would be contingent on Brady NOT suing the league.....
Sort of, "we will drop it to 2 games but only if you sign away your right to sue"
"see you in Federal court"

Also let's not forget that Florio is not commenting on the merits of the appeal, just stating that the leak is likely coming from Brady's camp (which I would agree with). I hope the leak is coming from the NFL's camp, but i don't think that that is "more than likely." Florio may be a little to strong in expressing his opinion as fact here though.

“Sources” who surely work for Tom Brady say Tom Brady was a great witness

Mike Florio

In fairness to Florio, this kind of rings true. Probably pretty much everyone in that room was working for the commissioner's office, the NFLPA/Brady, or Wells. There aren't any neutral parties here, which is what makes this appeal so stupid and unfair in the first place. Wells and his people obviously aren't in the business of undermining their own $5 million study, so the comment had to either come from a Brady/NFLPA source or from an NFL source. And do we think Troy Vincent is giving glowing reviews of Brady's testimony? Pash? Manara? Goodell himself? The only way I could see this coming from the commissioner's office and not from Brady is if Goodell intends to reduce Brady's suspension and decided to send out trial balloon signals to the press so that it doesn't look like it shadily came out of nowhere. Alternately, it could be Yee or one of Brady's lawyers, who have every incentive to ensure that Brady looks good in the public eye. But considering Schefter is pretty smart and published this without any caveats about the motivations of the source, I think one of the most likely possibilities is that Schefter has an NFLPA source who isn't so closely connected to Brady's case that s/he has an obvious personal stake in the results of the case and thus isn't completely unreliable, but would still be biased in favor of the player over the NFL. Whoever the source is, they probably have their own agenda for leaking this information to Schefter, and we should not take their word uncritically.

Of course, in the end, only two people will matter when it comes to deciding whether or not Brady's testimony at the appeal was credible: Roger Goodell, and whichever judge hears the case if Brady takes this to court.

But I do find it kinda amusing that the NFL* is turning down reporters craving for a leak lol

The NFL is remaining extremely tight lipped on Brady hearing. No leaks, on or off the record. For now, total silence.

Yep and at least based on the snippets I have heard/read, TB answered every question with the conviction and honesty that the NFL side of the room lacks.

you also can argue that if wells had such a strong argument it would have been over much faster. 11 hours is almost unheard of for any appeals hearing. in court they give you 20-30 minutes for each side in an appeal.

This is the thing that pisses me off. During the first week leading up to the super bowl we had leaks against the pats almost every day. Now........crickets. So am I right to assume the only way we get to see the transcript from yesterday's appeal is if brady takes the league to court??

Yep. Omerta is in full-force in the NFL Office. Especially when there is a potential for a defamation suit. Reports also say that there is a confidentiality agreement in place b/t/w the two parties.

With that said, even Omerta is not full-proof. Stoolies have been around for a long time.

For what it's worth, I suspect that guys like Kensil and Grigson and maybe Gardi, as well as the people employed under them, were some of the primary sources of leaks (both accurate and inaccurate) after the AFC Championship Game and during the Wells investigation. I doubt guys like Goodell and Vincent and Wells and Pash have been directly responsible for leaks, so there aren't enough loose lips in the room for reporters to collect information as easily as they did in the initial investigation. We'll see if I'm wrong soon enough though.

Of course the NFL is shutting up. The threat of legal action from Brady's camp has never been more real, and any leaks now would reflect very poorly on the NFL in court.

It's not unlike how that 4 hour limit suddenly went away. The NFL is trying to cover whatever parts of their behinds they still can.

Very true.

One thing that I want an answer to...why 40 people? In my experience, when you have 40 people in a room, the best way to communicate and ensure everyone is on the same page is to present (as opposed to conversations). I wonder if there was any presentation (Wells Report vs actual science) that occurred so common agreement could be found? My understanding is that there were scientists in that room. Maybe that was their role?

But 40 freaking people participated in the hearing. FORTY!!!! Someone's gotta spill the beams....

No one on the NFL side is spilling the beans because they know they got f%cked hard by Brady and his team.

Exactly. The NFL is now being soundly advised by legal counsel to shut the hell up. Nothing that leaks will be good for them in court.

I was surprised by this number too, maybe Goodell invited too much people to the party? So he could get the mic and say "ok, people, looks like we don't have much space for everyone here, unfortunately we will have to move to that basement room with cell phone jammers, oops!"

Or if he does offer to reduce it, it would be contingent on Brady NOT suing the league.....

I still feel like I'm in the f***ing twilight zone lol... "reduced" penalty down to 2 games, to be on par with Ray Rice who right hooked his fiance and knocked her unconscious in an elevator.. over something that didn't even happen.. and the non cooperation is BS because precedent has already been set when Favre got a $50k fine for not turning his cell over in a SEXUAL HARASSMENT case.

I feel like I'm in a looney bin or something with all of this

What's even more boggling is that we don't even know why Kraft chose not to appeal!!! WTF is going on here?

F/uck Bertrand fat ass, I'm turning to MFB on WEEI

I don't have access to Bertrand (or desire), but MFB aren't much better. Benz is a joke, he's basically a walking fallacy with nearly all his commentary being some form of strawman or false dichotomy.

Today, for instance, he was saying that Brady not handing over his phone is worthy of a one game suspension despite the $50,000 Favre precedent due to the more serious nature of these allegations.

The problem is, the severity is more than offset by how insignificant the phone actually is. In Favre's case, the phone was central to the investigation, perhaps even being the investigation. With DFG, the NFL already had all of Tom's texts to both key parties so what more do they expect to find? If Tom was careful enough to avoid incriminating communication to McNally and JJ, why would he be loquacious with anyone else?

That's the great paradox. If you presume guilt, it actually makes it less likely that the phone contains anything useful. But that kind of nuance is beyond Benz's grasp. To be fair, Merloni didn't get this either and Fauria is too dim to explain it to them.

While I am not listening to Zo and that fat watermelon with legs and glasses, he does have a point. The fact that TB12 needed to spend 10hrs in a room to explain that he had nothing to do with something that didn't happen is a tough spot to be in. Especially when you know your accusers are powerful and have a major agenda against you and the team you play for.

My guess is that a significant amount of that 10.5 hours was Ted Wells answering questions about the report from Jeffrey Kessler, Don Yee and the bride of Frankenstein lady who was a lawyer for the NFLPA

No one on the NFL side is spilling the beans because they know they got f%cked hard by Brady and his team.

That no one on the NFL side is spilling the beans is probably because Goodell has threatened them all with death. The rampant leaking earlier is already likely to be used against him in an appeal. More leaks will just make things worse, the way getting caught in a lie about the 4 hour time limit yesterday has already made things worse.
