This is why I can't follow the league much longer after Brady & Belichick. Not as long as Goodell and his cronies are running the ship with impunity. It is disgusting.

So yeah, almost 4pm EST. Just sitting here hoping against hope Goodell has a moment of clarity and stops being a f-up. Not holding my breath though...

That actually is consistent with appeals in court (the appellant has the burden to show error in the trial court). So is preponderance of the evidence in civil cases. The NFL actually tries to make this look like a legal proceeding.

Unfortunately, the "proof of innocence" references, failure to apply actual evidence to the preponderance standard, right to objective reviewers and bias-free judge . . . pretty much everything else, that make one pine away for the more balanced systems in China or Russia.

There is a big problem with this statement by Schefter. This is NOT a legal proceeding. It is an internal proceeding. Brady and his lawyers will treat it as a legal proceeding, though, because they fully plan to take it to court..

Adam Schefter is the one ESPN reporter that I think tries his very best to get it right. He's largely been off to the sides on the deflategate story, maybe because ESPN feared he'd be like Florio and see the Wells report for the sham that it is, thus they asked him to be quiet.

He gets a zinger now and then, like when he harpooned the Nagi story about the kicking balls.
