@gregaiello: @ProFootballTalk There is no strict 4-hour time limit on the TB team's presentation and it is expected to go beyond that.

Interesting, wasn't it Schefter that reported the four hour thing? He's the best sourced guy out there, sounds like someone in the league office is spreading misinformation... again.

Schefter stays above the fray most of the time, too. He was one of the few guys out there who didn't rush to pile on when this story broke in the first place.

In the legal world, how can a massive penalty be left in place if the tool that justified them is invalidated?

It happens all the time in the legal world. The legal system is all about finality. Once your case has run its course and all appeals exhausted, the case is virtually always done -- even if new evidence comes up.

Heck, look at even criminal law: Person X violates some law and is convicted (and either doesn't appeal or has all appeals denied) and goes to jail. Later on, Person Y violates the same law and for whatever reason (luck of the draw, attitudes have changed, etc.) manages to get the law declared unconstitutional and is set free. Almost all the time Person X gets absolutely zero benefit from it. Courts will almost never set people like Person X free. The best he can do is try to convince the appropriate executive (governor or President) to commute his sentence and/or pardon him.

The next level for Brady's defense is to try to undermine the premise, but if he can achieve his objective without going there, then he has no reason to do so.

The problem is, targeting solely Brady's awareness implies - even if inadvertently - that there was something to be aware of.

'strict' is the key word in there.......says there's some kind of limitation that's been communicated........so it was 4 hours - ish

Trying to smoke out the leaker(s)? Here's a funny scenario: they give different stories to different suspected leakers and it turns out that all of them are leaked. Hilarity ensues.

That there are different standards doesn't change the fact that if the evidence indicates the balls weren't deflated, then there is no justification that activities occurred, let alone whether Brady was aware of them.

If the evidence was stronger, I'd agree with you. As is, however, pointing out that the entire penalty is built on a flimsy house of cards is a viable strategy.

In other words: just because the standard is 'only' preponderance of evidence doesn't mean you can just rule whatever you want. You still have to actually have a preponderance of evidence. Which the league never had, and most definitely doesn't have now that the Wells Report's 'science' has been blown out of the water.

Tomase ran a pack of lies Super Bowl weekend and did serious long term damage to the franchise with it. What he did was so much greater in magnitude that it blows away any garbage Volin has produced. Volin is a punk but what Tomase did is unforgivable. He's dead to me.

The Spygate thing had been a cloud over the franchise for an entire season. Tomase, being and idiot fell for lies and added 10 percent to what people already were fired up about. On the surface the Herald retracted the article. He was sent to exile for years. Should haven even fired.

What Volin is doing is far, far worse. He is spewing lies, assailing peoples characters, and furthering what appears to be a ******** scandal all for personal gain. He has been on NFL network, Nightly News peddling his filth. He is reaching the masses and they are listening. Much, much more irresponsible.

Tomase is disgusting and should never haven even a seen again.

Volin has helped fan the flames for months and months.

Wonder if there a a 4 hr limit but Kessel informed Goody of the s&it storm that would ensue if they weren't given a fair chance to offer a complete case, as Wells was allowed to do.

Thus Aiello's statement, funny how they weren't so quick to correct the lie fed to Mort.....

It will be interesting to find out who decided on the 4 hours. If it was the NFL, and the NFLPA felt that more time was needed, that's yet another avenue that the NFLPA could potentially explore in an appeal.

Exactly. The whole ballgame in any appeal in federal court will be whether the court should defer to Goodell’s arbitration award. Not giving Brady and the NFLPA sufficient time to present a defense would be a big reason why the court would not defer. If a court doesn’t defer and gets to the merits of Brady’s suspension, the NFL is sunk.

Assuming Brady is not satisfied with the outcome of today's meeting, is it a given that he can get his case heard by a judge?

He's an as$hole and the worst owner in football because he is on a previously scheduled trip?

No, he's an @sshole for refusing to help Brady by phone, I agree with the post about the preschefuled trip. He has become the worst owner in football for putting himself, his ego, and his membership in the billionaire boys club over his team, their fans, and the GOAT. I have lost all respect for him.

You can use a satellite phone on a plane these days, bad job by Kraft, again. Very Dissapointed.

I think we all can agree, and you can tell everybody, Brady is the MF man.

How lucky are we he is qb-ing our team, on and off the field..

I'm on board the Kraft hate train but you gotta remember, his road to 'appeal' is very different from Brady's. Brady, per the CBA, is afforded the appeal being heard today and if he's not satisfied can pursue a number of court avenues including suing for defamation and various suits for alleged CBA violations in federal court. Kraft, as an owner, just does not have the same rights to appeal, anything he did would be construed as action against the other 31 owners because he'd be filing suit against the NFL.

So I'm with you, Kraft caved when he didn't need to and at worst he should have kept his mouth shut and seen where Brady's appeal went. But can we please stop talking about Kraft 'not appealing', because he never had that option.

Kraft absolutely could appeal. He had that right and chose to not.

According to Troy Vincent, the cloud is still there.

He does get a lot of face time nationally. Hes good at dummying down info because his ability to articulate a complex topic is that of a 3rd grader.

I wouldn't have even wanted him to give anything about my character. This is the guy that 6 months ago was the first one to come out and back goodell over the Ray Rice thing. Terrible character witness.
