schefter - brady given 4 hours to present testimony. proceedings will wrap today.

Predict what Bend-Over Bob Kraft's public comments will be if:

The suspension is reduced to zero games.

The suspension is reduced to 2 games

The suspension remains at 4 games

This will be like predicting the score threads- let's see who can make the most accurate guess as to the timid one's comments.

@AdamSchefter: Patriots owner Robert Kraft, now out of country, wrote an affidavit to be introduced into today's appeal, supporting Tom Brady's character.

What a show of support1!1!1!1!1!1

Kraft didn't pick the date of the appeal, and it conflicted with the trip to Israel he's on right now. There's justification enough for anger at Kraft if you want it, but I don't think this is a great choice.

There is one thing that the NFL has to keep owners in line: if three-fourths of the owners agree, the league can force an owner to sell his/her team.

It wouldn't surprise me if Kraft found out that a Patriots lawsuit against the NFL—given the former's dominance in recent years—might not be welcome by the other owners.

This is something I considered as well

They are asking for the ability to see internal docs associated with the investigation and the ability to question people for the record.

Very Big Deal or BFD.

Sounds like they are getting ready for court.

Brady given 4 hours to present his case, yet Goodell can't rule on Hardy's appeal within a month. And he'll take longer still to rule on this one, I'm sure.

Now that the tables are turned and Brady's team is demanding documents from the league, I'm sure he wants to wrap this whole thing as quickly as humanly possible. Sounds like damage control to me.

And depending on what you were hoping for from the appeal, I think we can safely say this means there will be no reduction of the suspension.

He may be dumb but what he is currently engaged in is malicious. I have kept my mouth shut about him to this point but no longer, he has no business reporting on this team, period. He has entered Tomase territory with his lies.

He is way past Tomase. Tomase was/is an idiot. I think Volin is worse because he truly has an agenda and he has had zero penalties for his lies and reporting falsehoods. I don't see how you can lie, misinform and peddle BS and not get a) fired or b) suspended.

That would normally make sense, but the Rats need the Pats to lose those picks if they have any hopes of catching the Pats, so the penalties stick.

Stealing a future HOF CB away isn't likely going to be enough by itself.

Now come on, to be fair, the Jets were penalized for tampering. I believe they were fined 45 dollars.

He may not, true. However if the report is found to be invalid, that in itself may be grounds for something. In the legal world, how can a massive penalty be left in place if the tool that justified them is invalidated? This is regardless of Brady can or cannot do anything. Sometimes the system has to help those that otherwise can't (Kraft suing NFL) as an example. Hell, that's what I thought the system was there for in the first place.
That's just the way the American civil courts work. You can't seek legal remedy for an adverse effect to a person who isn't a party to the suit except in really specific situations, and this isn't one of those situations. The draft picks and fine aren't directly harming Tom Brady, so the court can't allow him to seek remedy on behalf of the Patriots organization and Bob Kraft.

It can be left in place because Kraft never bothered to challenge it.

He never had any official verdict on the report being garbage. What did he have to use as defense at that point? If the report is legally found to be invalid, is that not all the ammo you need?

The ruling doesn't matter, the response will be the same.

I accept the commissioners decision................

for all three options

Interesting to note: The @NFLPA called Robert Kraft to testify over the phone. He could not. So he offered a written statement of support.

As usual, "we will accept whatever the NFL finds and move on. We support Tom Brady."

Actually the contract they gave him is a penalty all its own.
