I don't think we'll get any real leaks until around lunch time. So maybe we hear something between 12 and 2?

Yeah, I'm guessing we'll hear snippets around 1-2, then more around 4-6 when they wrap up. No way the NFL keeps this totally under wraps, though obviously no decision will be reached today and they still may reconvene on Thursday.

And that said, I wouldn't take the leaks for anything more than spin for one side or the other (if that isn't obvious to people by now). The NFLPA can be just as guilty of that as the NFL.

It defies belief that a min wage game day employee with the sense of humor of 9 year old was able to survive 3 days of questioning by NFL security and 8 hours of questioning by ex FBI investigators, without once tripping himself up. how'd he manage that?

If he somehow got passed ex FBI guys with lies, this country is in big trouble.
because he was probably telling the truth

They can't increase the penalties.

Is there a rule against it (that can't be loopholed)? Or are you just saying there's no way it happens? Because we've seen a lot of things happen that they "couldn't" do.

I don't know if 345 has underground parking. Next time I walk by I'll take a look. But, I suspect that Goodell and Wells were on site at 7AM, long before any of the mediots got out of bed.

We've changed the term "mediot" to "FBOI" (short for "Festering Boil of Imbecility". Hat-tip to Oswlek.

That is absurd! What the NFL now has authority to charge someone with perjury. What a joke!
I'm guessing this is a tactic to try and deter Brady from taking the NFL to court.

It has come up frequently and my understanding is that it would violate the CBA.

I don't think this is accurate. This isn't a criminal trial.

Since for some arse-about-tit reason Brady has to prove his innocence, he cant produce texts or evidence of his blamelessness, and so the only recourse he has is to testify on oath. It will say more about Goodell's intransigence if he decides that it is insufficient to overturn the charge and punishment.

The same was true of John Edwards.

These guys aren't idiots compared to the entire population at large. But in certain roles they can be intellectually inadequate for what they need to do.

The same is true of Roger Goodell himself. I am certain his intelligence is, strictly speaking, above the median for the entire US population.
You're not really setting the bar that high...Put another way, the median SAT score is a 500.......

I am of the opinion Goodell believes he does the right thing and is just bad at his job rather than he purposely gets things wrong for some unknown reason

There are at least three possible meanings of "right" here -- best for Goodell, best for the owners as a group, and morally right. I agree with you completely for the first sense of the word mainly for the second sense, and hardly at all for the third.

I don't think the team sanctions are on the table at all. Bobby gave the team up so his billionaire buddies would let him back at the cafeteria table.

If the NFL wants to do a deal to make the problem go away, anything that's currently off the table can be put back on

Could be, though I wouldn't be surprised if this is Kessler/NFLPA's move to say 'he has nothing to hide', maybe even throwing the 'uncooperative' narrative back in the NFL's face, implying he's already answered everything they asked of him and he did it honestly and completely, he just refused to turn over private communications which is understandable.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Brady under oath is a show of confidence by his side: he's not lying, and not afraid to say everything under oath. Maybe even a play to get Wells/others under oath.

Ben Volin is an idiot.

What does that really mean? Subject to what legal sanction, since this is not under court jurisdiction?

Penalty of perjury.
Depositions are the obvious analogy.
IANAL, so I'll stop there.

I just hope Tom is honest and we move on from this.
I think the honesty of Mr Brady has never been in doubt, the honesty of the NFL is beyond question, it has already been proven to be non existent. That letter http://wellsreportcontext.com/nfl-letter-to-patriots/
stating that one of the balls was 10.1 and the Colts balls were all above 12.5 is prove of what liars they are. If the NFL just released the figures most of this would have simply gone away. When they finally gave them to the Patriots months later, they required the Patriots not disclose them. Why was that?

Now I know this isn't gonna happen but this is silly season so what if Brady's lawyers are able to show that science proves the wells report was flawed. And let's say it is proven in a way where they corner wells and he acknowledges that he hadn't noticed the flaw. What would the outcome of that be? Wells is there today and science doesn't lie so I'm just curious if they prove there were mistakes and wells actually acknowledges that in front of Goodell what would Goodell do? As I said wells seems like the kind of person who wouldn't be honest with himself and acknowledge a mistake if it was presented to him but I'm just curious what would happen?
Brady isn't there to argue about science unless this goes to court.

Today, he's there to convince Goodell that he never told Jastremski or McNally to do anything against the rules and that Jastremski or McNally did not tell him that they had broken any rules during the long phone conversation or the meeting in the QB room.

If today turns into a debate over the science, Brady is going to have to make that case in court.

In court, the logic will be, "the science shows that nothing was done to the balls, so Brady could not have been involved in anything improper."

Today, the logic is "Roger, I didn't tell these guys to do anything against the rules and they have never told me they did so." Goodell either accepts that or he doesn't.

All the science stuff is a prelude to an argument in Federal Court. McPhee will try to establish that they will destroy the Wells report in open court.

As for Wells, he's an experienced litigator and will never admit that his report or the science behind it is flawed even if a Judge rejects his findings and criticizes the report in open court. That's not how these guys are wired.
