I don't think he would ever agree with my assessment of him but as I said I made the exact same argument repeatedly to rlCarr and flasox while the investigation was underway and could not have been more wrong. I honestly didn't think that Wells would be willing to sacrifice his integrity and reputation to do the league office bidding and I'm still shocked that he did so, especially in the shoddy way he did it. That report was literally garbage, I would have been surprised if it had been prepared by an undergraduate student let alone a lawyer with his reputation. I think he did serious damage to his reputation and that will cost him far more than the five million they paid him, and that to me qualifies him as an idiot.
Let me get this straight. You're shocked that a lawyer would sacrifice his integrity?

What ever happened to doing the right thing?
People keep talking about what Goodell should make up in order to look good. Why not just tell the truth and admit Wells did a terrible job and there is nothing to support his conclusion.
I dont understand how people think Goodell looks better by lying then losing on court and sayong he tried to screw Brady but the court found the truth,
Bingo! All the commentary speculating about all of Goodell's machinations and calculations regarding possible outcomes just show the implicit assumption that Goodell is not impartial, yet few in the national media are calling him on it.

Wells has stuff on the NFL... You better believe it. So much conniving here.

Of course the MCI (Mentally Challenged Intern) doubles down on the misinformation, as always:

Ben Volin ✔ @BenVolin
It’s past 9:30 and no signs of Goodell or Ted Wells. Probably safe to say they went in through a side/underground entrance, too
I don't know if 345 has underground parking. Next time I walk by I'll take a look. But, I suspect that Goodell and Wells were on site at 7AM, long before any of the mediots got out of bed.

Obvious question, did you ever ask or instruct the equipment handlers to deflate game balls after referee inspection?
I was thinking more about the legal standing - but yeah - that's a fine question..

Who is leaking that he is testifying under oath? The NFL, they can't stop a nose bleed.

This is all much ado about nothing. This **** is going to court and I'm happy about that.

That's right. He has to ask Brady point blank if Jastremski and/or McNally told him that they had done something against the rules during the long phone conversation or during the meeting in the QB room.

Brady has to hold Goodell's gaze as he's asking the question, look him right in the eye and answer without missing a beat. I'm assuming that the true answer is "no" because if Brady goes to court either or both of those two guys could be asked the same question under oath.

I honestly think that the truth is that Brady put a lot of pressure on those guys to have the game balls the way he liked them but that he never told them to do anything against the rules. Whether or not they went too far and did something they shouldn't have done is another matter. The "right" science seems to suggest that, on the day in question, they did not, but Wells' science suggests otherwise.

That's why how Brady answers that and a couple of other questions is what today is all about. Kessler, McPhee, Yee and Wells are all just window dressing unless and until this gets to Court.

It defies belief that a min wage game day employee with the sense of humor of 9 year old was able to survive 3 days of questioning by NFL security and 8 hours of questioning by ex FBI investigators, without once tripping himself up. how'd he manage that?

If he somehow got passed ex FBI guys with lies, this country is in big trouble.

Let me get this straight. You're shocked that a lawyer would sacrifice his integrity?

In this manner yes. They do it all the time in court but this was a public investigation where he was supposed to provide an intelligent report, and that was anything but, and it ended up being shredded publicly. People expect them to sell out as advocates but this isn't one of those instances.

Ask yourself this, if you were rich and in big trouble and someone advised you to hire Ted Wells to defend you what would you do?

Brady could still sue on the grounds that the punishment for non cooperation has been established in the Favre case as a fine, not a suspension.
That's why i've said since yesterday its "four" or "zero."

If it was going poorly for Brady it would have been leaked by now. Doesn't matter, of course. I won't be shocked if he got 6 games after today for "lying under oath".

I don't think we'll get any real leaks until around lunch time. So maybe we hear something between 12 and 2?

The same thing I'd do after seeing that used cars salesman's sneer under that creepy mustache.

If I was Tom, I'd be a troll and pass out bags of fun-sized Doritos to everyone in the room.....

wasn't the favre non-cooperation punishment done under the old CBA?

They can't increase the penalties.

Brady should have worn all his rings and carried in his sb mvp trophy today. The hater's heads would explode
I'd like to see a picture of Brady showing his hands with his four rings and a picture of Goodell's head photoshopped onto one of his empty fingers.
