Official Brady Appeal Thread: D-Day Tuesday June 23rd

Wait why does Brady have to give good answers about the texts? He wasn't involved in any of the texts and if he never told them to do it then he shouldn't be answering about texts he had no involvement with.

On the flipside of that Kessler and McPhee will have a field day with teddy wells and why he decided to ignore the text that said the refs over inflated balls and that Brady told them to bring the PSI rule and show the refs.
This is not a court proceeding. Brady can be asked by Goodell for his interpretation of the texts between Jastremski and McNally. I imagine he has well-rehearsed answers to those questions. What would you have him do? Plead the Fifth if asked? I don't think that would get him what he wants out of today's proceedings.

Kessler is there on Brady's behalf, so I'm not sure how far he'll want to get into the science unless this goes to Court. McPhee on the other hand will probably want to get into it.

I'm surprised Adam tweeted this. You get sworn in a court of law. This is merely a work related appeals process. I highly doubt anyone is being "sworn"

Not correct. It is done at a deposition etc...

a- is this the norm? b- how possible without actual judge? @adbrandt, do you know? https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/613356393027006465…

I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. No judge is present at depositions, and the deponents are sworn. IANAL, but I believe all it takes is someone voluntarily taking an oath to tell the truth under pains and penalties of perjury and said oath being witnessed.

What ever happened to doing the right thing?
People keep talking about what Goodell should make up in order to look good. Why not just tell the truth and admit Wells did a terrible job and there is nothing to support his conclusion.
I dont understand how people think Goodell looks better by lying then losing on court and sayong he tried to screw Brady but the court found the truth,
Because Goodell and the NFL (owners) want to to hide the fact that the league is a sham. It is manipulated to satisfy the fans as a whole. If every team has some success, those fans buy tickets, jerseys, hats etc. The free agency, draft are prime examples. Goodell is the liar for the owners. I hope this goes to court and exposes it for what it is.

How in gawd's name can anyone be required to testify under oath? Under the laws of Venezuela or Somalia?

Of course the MCI (Mentally Challenged Intern) doubles down on the misinformation, as always:

Ben Volin ✔ @BenVolin
It’s past 9:30 and no signs of Goodell or Ted Wells. Probably safe to say they went in through a side/underground entrance, too
How come they're not reported as having snuck in? Jerk!

there is no solution here with Roger comes out the winner here, his only bet is to go all in and try and call brady's bluff.
That's right. He has to ask Brady point blank if Jastremski and/or McNally told him that they had done something against the rules during the long phone conversation or during the meeting in the QB room.

Brady has to hold Goodell's gaze as he's asking the question, look him right in the eye and answer without missing a beat. I'm assuming that the true answer is "no" because if Brady goes to court either or both of those two guys could be asked the same question under oath.

I honestly think that the truth is that Brady put a lot of pressure on those guys to have the game balls the way he liked them but that he never told them to do anything against the rules. Whether or not they went too far and did something they shouldn't have done is another matter. The "right" science seems to suggest that, on the day in question, they did not, but Wells' science suggests otherwise.

That's why how Brady answers that and a couple of other questions is what today is all about. Kessler, McPhee, Yee and Wells are all just window dressing unless and until this gets to Court.

Wells would have to have his report rejected in stinging terms by a Federal Judge before he would agree with a word of that. However, I do agree that the NFL will likely never hire him again.

I don't think he would ever agree with my assessment of him but as I said I made the exact same argument repeatedly to rlCarr and flasox while the investigation was underway and could not have been more wrong. I honestly didn't think that Wells would be willing to sacrifice his integrity and reputation to do the league office bidding and I'm still shocked that he did so, especially in the shoddy way he did it. That report was literally garbage, I would have been surprised if it had been prepared by an undergraduate student let alone a lawyer with his reputation. I think he did serious damage to his reputation and that will cost him far more than the five million they paid him, and that to me qualifies him as an idiot.

You said you were gonna leak something today .... well....what is it?

No I am not leaking anything. I was looking for press for something that happened last night. Press is involved. Could be a while till becomes public but that is fine. Again it is peripheral and regarding Wells but given how he has shown himself to be rattled, it could be funny. Sorry that is all I can say without possibly ruining something none of us would want ruined.

Where's a leak when you need one?

On the flipside of that Kessler and McPhee will have a field day with teddy wells and why he decided to ignore the text that said the refs over inflated balls and that Brady told them to bring the PSI rule and show the refs.

I forgot that Brady had asked to invoke the PSI rule with the referees. So he actually requested more vigilance from NFL authority on the subject of ball pressure at game time. It would therefor seem illogical for him to order/request deflation from Jastremski while also encouraging greater referee oversight. Furthermore it should be highly persuasive evidence of his lack of knowledge of any attempt to do so.
