League source explains on Tom Brady: If he says the same thing he did to Ted Wells, his suspension won’t change. How forthcoming will he be?

But what if he is only guilty because the league's process was flawed?

Bruce Allen added,

... In the end, Goodell wants Brady to convince him that he isn't guilty, not that the league's process was flawed. We'll see if he can.

Ian and breer are nfl voices. You can treat these as leaks.

I had forgotten that Jonathan Vilma and his attorney walked out of his appeal with Goodell, calling it a "sham." http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/19376359/jonathan-vilma-and-attorney-cut-appeal-hearing-short-monday-call-it-a-sham…

Will Ted Wells testify under oath? If Goodell is called as witness, will he?

Under Oath? What?

Since when this got outside of the sports jurisdiction and got into the legal system? Because if Wells is under oath too I wouldn't believe in a word coming from him. Only in a federal court.

Sworn testimony can be part of arbitration hearings if the parties agree. Goodell testified in Ray Rice's hearing.

How does one testify under oath without it being in a courtroom or in front of a real judge? Im confused https://twitter.com/McCannSportsLaw/status/613358640473473024…

Now I know this isn't gonna happen but this is silly season so what if Brady's lawyers are able to show that science proves the wells report was flawed. And let's say it is proven in a way where they corner wells and he acknowledges that he hadn't noticed the flaw. What would the outcome of that be? Wells is there today and science doesn't lie so I'm just curious if they prove there were mistakes and wells actually acknowledges that in front of Goodell what would Goodell do? As I said wells seems like the kind of person who wouldn't be honest with himself and acknowledge a mistake if it was presented to him but I'm just curious what would happen?

Goodell better then take back everything, apologies to Brady and the Pats and go into hiding till the season begins.

I wonder whose idea it was to testify under oath? Union or league or Brady himself?

So agreeing with a clearly wrong report so you pay for something that is wrong is better than using it to get the right result? He didn't pay Wells to make his decision for him. He paid him to investigate. If the interpretation of the investigation is science proves mothing happened why is that a waste of money?
Wells does not understand the science, doubling down on that is throwing away 5 mill

yes.....there is obviously some in the room who don't care about getting it right.....otherwise we would not be here in the first place

it is a FACT that Brady did not comply with the request for the cell phone......the same thing happened to Favre to the tune of 50K

I'll bet that this ends if it is brought down to no suspension and a fine for lack of cooperation

it would be stupid to continue

what's the 'oath' that brady will be testifying under? this is a private matter and not in a courtroom

did someone bring a judge?

I stopped watching NFL network a long time ago.
I have no regrets. Pure garbage on that station.
They showed that game last week during lunchtime. Not sure if it is intentional.

I'd be a bit more skeptical if they showed SB 42 and 46.

Rappaport was just on EEI and he is somehow able to reconcile the statement that this is a legitimate appeal with the whole, "new evidence" rhetoric. Ian, if your contacts are telling you that Roger is willing to reconsider his decision if Tom provides new evidence, then this is not remotely a legitimate appeal. It was telling that his ramblings offered numerous scenarios but never once did he mention anything about the possible lack of support to the original sanctions.

Even if Ian is purely reporting on this issue, he should still be able to recognize the discrepancy there.

Placing your hand on a holy text for a sports appeal on deflated balls. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously

(Nodding...) RT @jjones9: Placing your hand on a holy text for a sports appeal on deflated balls. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously.

I can't imagine something like that happening in any other country other than, ironically enough, the Islamic states in the Middle East. All it's missing is a firework display, a tribute to the troops and an over the top version of the national anthem delivered by Hulk Hogan on a stars and stripes Fender Stratocaster and it would be the most American event of all time...

I expect stupidity from Bert, but somehow the depths of his ignorance is still awe inspiring.

Hey dumbass, when you are accused of a "crime" and the evidence strongly indicates that no such crime exists, it is tantamount to demonstrating your innocence. If the balls weren't deflated, what basis do you have to levy a punishment?

When I hear mediots' moronic blathering about "proving innocence" it leaves me truly dumbfounded. If someone accused me of child abuse, I could trot out teacher after teacher who speak glowingly about me... and my children's exemplary grade history... and their spotless medical history... but the one thing I can't ever do is indicate conclusively that I have never struck my child. It would just mean the probability is low. You can't prove innocence. Ever. Particularly when you are accused of simply having knowledge of an infraction.

No, you festering boil of imbecility, the difference between this charade and the criminal court is the threshold for guilt is lower. But even that reduced threshold still requires the NFL to establish Brady's guilt, which is impossible to do if the balls weren't actually deflated. Get it?

I think "festering boil of imbecility" is a good generic nickname for sports media going forward. FBOI for short.
