The Official Brady Appeal Thread: Live Updates and Rumors

Would anyone be surprised if goodell doesn't announce the result of the appeal 1 week before the regular season ? Its almost a month since greg hardy's hearing.
Well, TB12 has the opportunity to file an injunction without Goody ruling on the appeal. Could be some stare-down tactics at play here.

Interesting article and a few things why I think this whole thing is a sh.t show. I know we dont like Florio but theres some points pro and con.

"On if Brady’s argument will change in the federal court as opposed to the appeal: “They’ll attack everything just to point out how bad the process is. Even though, when you go to court to challenge the outcome of an arbitration proceeding, the bar is pretty high. Judges like it when private parties decide on their own to work out their differences with an arbitration. Judges don’t get paid by the case and they don’t get paid by the hour. They’re on salary. And anything out there that reduces the workload of the court system in this country is a good thing. That’s why there’s a federal arbitration act that encourages these proper arbitrations. It’s a high bar to get there."

Yes, that.

I think too many people in the forum think a federal court case is going to be a de novo "let's re-do Brady's appeal in front of a judge this time and have him issue a final ruling on if there should be a penalty" case.

IANAL, but I don't think this works that way. First, I believe a Brady win will not be a ruling that he can't be suspended -- he won't get such a ruling. Rather, a win in this case would be a decision saying (a) that the arbitrator abused his discretion and/or was not operating according to CBA procedures, (b) vacating the abitrator's decision, and (c) requiring it to be re-arbitrated, preferably by (d) someone other than Goodell-bot.

Then we get to do the whole thing over again, perhaps involving yet another trip to federal court.

Wonder if there's any chance of getting picks back if Goody gets completely embarrassed in court and the media exposes him for it.

Its really laughable how awful a decision Krafts capitulation was after more and more evidence starts to come out about how flawed the Wells Report was. It's the kind of decision that would cost him his job if he didn't own the place.

You know, there's another aspect to Kraft caving that doesn't get enough attention. Why the hell did he have to make a public statement that he was giving in? What did that change? Even if he had nothing else planned, he could have kept his mouth shut & powder dry, and waited to see how things transpired.

Idiot.

Brady should sue for defamation, if there is evidence of a sting to target him and leaks to cast him falsely in a bad light.

Short answer: no. The picks are gone, I can barely even imagine a scenario where that changes.

It may be different if Kraft still had a functioning backbone, but given where Kraft left things that part of this is over no matter what comes out.

Maybe..maybe a deep throat Watergate scenario where an insider comes out with evidence of a sting at the highest levels of NFL Headquarters....

Like, Kraft didn't even need to even threaten to go to court. He could have waited for things to settle, then go have a ****tail with his buddy Goodell and go something like "look, its starting to become obvious that the Wells Report is flawed in many ways. Tom is only going to continue to expose it and thats going to look bad for you. You know I don't want to cause trouble for you too so how about you change the 1st round pick to a 2nd and knock off the 4th. I think that'll work for both of us." Would that have been so difficult?!?

I have been saying for months now that if the league had a shred of integrity - which it does not - they would run some real life actual measurements on balls this upcoming season to see what really happens to Wilson balls subjected to NFL playing conditions in a wide variety of weather conditions, then consider whether or not to reinstate the missing draft picks and $1 million.

I wonder how Brady would feel about letting everything go forth with that. You have an excellent question to wonder if he would see that as justice delayed/denied.

Because the report is Brady wants full exoneration. He isn't gonna get that from the appeal.

I dunno....after what Kraft did to deflate us on Black Tuesday, I really don't know what to expect from Brady....I'll be greatly please if he chooses to go to court, but there aren't any gurantees he'll want to do so. I'm eager to hear more from his camp.

the circus will be in town tomorrow.
wonder how many people will be outside the courthouse haha

But you haven't been here for months. ;)

nfl network will cover the brady appeal all day tomorrow.

wish they had this much interest in real issues like homicides/rape/soliciting prostitutes/ped's....

****ing joke.

I guess he wanted to give context to his hug.
