“To this day, I still haven’t touched one dime of my signing bonus or NFL contract money. I live off my marketing money and haven’t blown it on any big-money expensive cars, expensive jewelry or tattoos and still wear my favorite pair of jeans from high school… I don’t hurt anyone (except Gord with the occasional kick to the groin), I don’t do drugs, I don’t drive drunk, I don’t break the law… I’m a 23-year-old guy just looking to have a fun time.”

In previous threads where folks were opining that he was an immature but lovable dummy, I posted that I'd read articles that Gronk had listened to his Dad and had a VERY mature view of financial matters. He made money buying & selling his Tampa home.

I have since vowed to never tell another Polish joke.

23 years old! He might still be playing for the Pats in 2027.

He may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but in comparison to other NFL players and being fiscally responsible he's has an IQ of 167.

Gronk is the man!

He is a financial genius:

"“There were a lot of hot, sexy Mexican ladies there, but I picked out the largest, healthiest looking one, who had to be 260 pounds, like I was. After 10 seconds of me dancing on top of her in the chair, the collective 520 pounds of the two of us collapsed the fold-up chair. The crowd exploded with laughter. I got up and continued dancing (or twerking) to that Mariachi music. That was the best $30 I ever made!”

Here's a picture of GRONK at 12 years old.

In an odd "If they mated" sort of way, could you imagine if they could somehow combine the DNA of GRONK and JJ Watt?

For the record, his dad's advice was to invest his football income in government tax-free bonds (which are guaranteed), and live off his endorsements.

If you can swing it (Jay Leno did a similar thing—he never spent a dime of the money he was paid* for The Tonight Show), it's fantastic advice.

*Opinions differ on whether this counts as "earned" income. :p

Oops. Did I think he was drafted when he was 18? :-\

Nah, the OP says "I'm 23."

BTW . . . don't forget that he was one of the five youngest players in the NFL when he was drafted, and, IIRC, still one of the ten youngest at the start of the 2011 season.

All this is why the "over exposure" people complain about is unwarranted. He is doing what he can to make money and be smart about it. That's pretty enlightening. I bet most NFL athletes are like that. Edelman seems to get it as well, and not surprising that being friends with Gronk he is doing more and more media gigs.

I think the other thing to take away is that it isn't about the money for Gronk. It's about the love of playing football. What a novel concept.

Love Belichick's reaction, guy has a completely open mind. BB is smart enough to know that even if he doesn't understand it, he's not going to mess with something that works.

I LMAO at all the fools here that criticized him earlier in his career.......saves his money and has a permanent designated Goon/driver

keeps it all in the house

He does literally exactly what people complain that all professional athletes don't do. For a guy on his second contract making big money, this is basically the ultimate guidebook on how to live the good life without ****ing everything up for yourself.

he was either smart enough or lucky enough to get some endorsements early....even small ones like gronk flakes and what not.........he didn't even spend his contract money from his rookie deal

For context, this picture is apparently from when he was 12 years old. Which:

A) makes all of the middle-aged women commenting on it about how hot he is extremely creepy, and

B) kinda boggles the mind. Most adults I know don't look like that.

Oh wow. So Gronk and I have something in common. I too have not spent a dime of my signing bonus and contract money.

Any hater who thinks he is immature should realize he's mature enough to have someone else drive him around when he is out partying and drinking.

That's something that not every NFLer has had success with.

Aaron Hernandez are you listening? What a great kid. Good upbringing is apparent.
