The Patriots released veteran TE Fred Davis.

With this years F you tour BB seems to have decided that it's time to release our most dangerous weapon on the league. The one, the only, Jake Bequette who beats TEs off the roster left and right. The league will remember the day that they decided to cross BB and made him release the kraken

Not too surprised since we really didn't hear anything about Davis during OTAs. It is funny that Bequette is outlasting his competition though. I guess it would be very BB-like to keep him on the 53-man roster since he can provide depth at both DE and TE. Two positions, one roster spot.

I was hoping Fred would have shown a little more in OTA's. I guess he had nothing in the tank. Go get 'em Jake!

Wright and Davis cut within a week of each other. AJ Derby showing some promise to BB and McDaniels?

I just think if you are going to more of a 2 TE passing game with Gronk and Chandler you need a 3rd receiving TE to back them up and Hoomanuwai doesn't give you that. Wright and Davis fit that so with the now cut makes you think if Derby is showing something.

Reiss had noticed him favoring the surgical leg. Shame.

Not to be a Johnny Come Lately but I saw Davis as a long shot in making the team anyway.

Frankly, I don't see Bequette making the team either.

So..reset
Gronk
Chandler
Hooman
Derby (my binkie)
Bequette

Prediction: He'll be the #3 TE Week 1. ;)

Man, the Pats really want Bequette to succeed. He must be a great guy.
BB spoke glowingly about him in his presser. Clearly hes a guy that works hard and the coaching staff likes having around.

That was my thought. So much hype in so little time... despite there being absolutely no praise put on him by anybody linked to the organization.

Let's face it. Neither Bequette nor Davis were likely to make the final 53 man roster. Barring one of the young guys shining in the preseason, the TE group is going to be Gronk, Chandler, and Hooman.

Bequette : keeps on keepin on. TE is a deep position on this team. Arguably the very best group in the league. Even Hooman - third on the depth chart - is more than solid.

@DougKyedNESN: From what I could tell, Derby didn't practice during the offseason training program open to the media, so he'll enter camp a little behind.

Assuming Gronk, Chandler, and Hooman are our TEs, it looks like the Move TE position is extinct here. Three Big TEs each weighing atleast 260 lbs. Even if Bequette pulls off the miracle he's huge too.

My brother in-law has hung out with him a few times including attending a couple of (non-Pats) games with him and claims he is a really nice, down to earth, humble guy. Obligatory 2nd hand info grain of salt but he's one of the all time good guys so I tend to take his word for it.
