Is it the structure or the individual?

  • It is the structure. The NFL should create a new psoition that allows for more "checks and Balances"

  • It is the individual. Goodell is incompetent and needs to put out with the trash and replaced now.

  1. The position is a problem, because it's not really a man in charge of the league. It's a man in charge of doing what the owners want, which is obviously a different thing. That would be fine if they kept his powers limited, and the position stuck mostly to keeping an eye on the 32 teams and the playability of the game, but he position is currently designed to do much more than that.
  2. The person is a problem, because he's not up to the job. He wanted/demanded more power, and he can't handle it. No commissioner should have anything to do with non-football related issues involving players, but this asshat shouldn't have authority over anything more significant than whether or not he puts salt and pepper on his entree.
  3. Screw the NFL for allowing this asshat to get to where he is. These owners knew what he was before this last CBA, yet they still gave him the powers he now has.
  4. Screw the NFLPA for caving on the CBA.
#4 is interesting because at the time I think most of us were so desperate to see a deal get done that you're typical fan, much like myself didn't really understand what the players were giving up at the time because it was all about the $$$. I have to believe that the NFLPA and their lawyers knew this, but figured that if they gave Roger enough rope that he would more than likely hang himself and this is their opportunity to do so and challenge him in court. Am I giving the NFLPA too much credit?

Goodell is a shrewd business man, however a leader is only as good as the team he surrounds himself with. Goodell's downfall was to surround himself with incompetent boobs whose agenda wasn't his agenda. Instead of surrounding himself iwth the best and brightest he surrounded himself with a bunch of incompetent boobs.

I just don't get it. I'd love to see his resume to where it fits in with player punishment. As far as I can see he has no background in dealing with these matters. He wasn't a lawyer so it's not like he has any kind of judicial background to dish any sort of discipline. It's evident he can't do it cuz he loses every time he try's and it's almost comical watching him fail at it. I agree also with the structure argument. Or I will say he doesn't follow any of the structure that is here. If he did it would of been at most a 25000 dollar fine according to the rules. However at this point even that seems excessive given the evidence presented by the new reports. I'm still baffled over the loss of drafts picks and how he arbitrarily spun a twister wheel and went with it. I'm going to hold my breath even if Brady and his lawyers destroy this man and the NFL that we ever see them reduced or given back.

I have to admit this is probably the best I've felt these last couple of weeks regarding my fandom since the Super Bowl. I'm just glad some people have stopped being herded like sheep by the media and took a step back and formed their own opinion. I don't expect the haters to and that's ok. I know it's envy pure and simple and they will cling to their dying days of this to explain the unknown of the Patriots dominance.
