If in fact Brady has to sit out for the first 4 games, and let's say Jimmy Garoppolo does a good to outstanding job, do you think we keep him around or does Bill use him as trade bait? I'm a big fan of Jimmy and used to watch him play at Eastern Illinois, but Tom seems like he's not slowing down any time soon, and since New England lost their first round pick in the 2016 Draft, this might be something that the Patriots front office could possibly entertain. I'm just curious to you guys thoughts on that.

I just don't see them trading him. GoAT is going to be 38 in Aug. Hes still elite but things happen to older QBs that don't happen to younger ones.

If BB feels strongly that he has his QB for the next decade he won't trade him.

Even for a 1st round pick.

if JG goes I want it to be because he's sick of sitting on the bench waiting for brady to hit the wall.. and everyone hits the wall sooner or later.

Tom isn't slowing down yet but father time is still unbeaten. If Jimmy looks good he needs to be kept around learning from the best ever. We're at the point where you entertain extending him if Tom is still playing at the end of Jimmy's contract. BB and Kraft won't except mediocrity for the team after everything they've done in the last 15 years.

I don't want to jinx anything but Jimmy has the quickest throwing release that I have seen, since Dan Marino.

There is no debating that point. His release is lightning quick and has shown early that he can make quick decisions.

Combine the two on a consistent basis and you really have something in Grapes.

If Jimmy looks great in 4 games against quality NFL opponents (other than JAX), he'd be pretty much the most prized player in the NFL considering the position he plays and his manageable salary. It would take a ridiculous offer (2 firsts+) to pry him from BB's grasp. You don't trade potential stud QBs when your starter is 38 and both guys have a few years left under contract.

There is no need for NE to make a quick decision no matter how well JG plays. Considering Brady's age and how hard it is to find a legitimate starter, it seems unwise to dump him after his sophomore season. If he earns a starting spot, it'll be here unless Jimmy himself prefers otherwise and forces NE's hand.

And don't forget...

...he's dreamy. LOL

Here is what I noticed the most about him last year: Jimmy has a little fall-away touch that he puts on his deep/lofted ball that reminds me of Drew Bledsoe. You can just see the finesse in his delivery, and it looks very natural. Brady, for all his greatness, just doesn't look comfortable feathering passes. That touch, his quick release, his mobility, and his work ethic all have me excited. Just need the game to slow down a bit for him. I really like the kid.

No such thing as not for sale.

Let's assume Jimmy G looks like a franchise QB. a young franchise QB is worth no less than 2 first round picks.

I might consider it for a high 2016 2nd (cause no point trading for a 1st) a 1st in 2017 and a 1st in 2018.

Anything less is off the table.

The problem is these players might not be able to help Brady win in his final years cause it might be too late. So you are possibly trading one future for another and why walk away form the future which has produced on the field results for picks that might or might not work out?

If Jimmy G played well, he's basically untradeable given Brady's age.

On the flip side: if you are BB and going to retire in (say for ex) 3 years; would you hold onto a sure franchise qb for the NEXT COACH and a TRAITOROUS BACK-STABBING OWNER; or would you trade him and GO ALL IN on winning one or two more rings so you can go out with both your middle fingers up in the air laden with diamond junk flipping off Go-to-hell all the way to Canton?

I doubt Bill harbors nearly the animosity toward Bob as many fans do. And if he was really in an all-in frame of mind then JG wouldn't even be here.

Yeah I Hear Ya! But, Pats, BB NEVER Go 'All In' not their style. they're lookin ahead at BIG Picture and if anything comes along and it's worth a look they bring'm in.

Remember how many fans were pissed when BB wasted a 2nd round pick on a QB when Brady needed help now?

Looks a little better now that the Pats won the Superbowl without that extra help, and now they have a young asset who may be ready to step in when Brady is done.

I agree. If he gets major time in 2015 and kicks ass, Grapes would be pretty much 2 #1s.

The only other player on the roster that -if has a dominant 2015 that would fetch that kind of currency might be Jamie Collins.
