What a surprise the NBA had a really exciting nba finals going on, and wham lets talk about deflategate.

DEFLATEGATE is over fellas, there could be a million new reports trashing the wells report,

it.

would.

not.

mater.

Kraft ACCEPTED the Penalty. In the court room of public opinion, they cheated, they are guilty. they cheated last year and every single year. That is the legacy kraft decided was worth NOT fighting to avoid.

LET IT GO.

No

I'm still waiting for ESPN to post & link the Reiss recap on their main page (LOL)

PFT? COME ON, FLORIO! I hope he hasn't parked this story as incapable of generating sufficient clicks. As a Carnegie Mellon grad with 2 engineering degrees, he has been the one national writer to clearly grasp the ridiculousness of the Wells Report.

Deflategate was top billing for the entire week after the AFCCG and again after the Wells report was released. It was the main piece on ESPN.com, with numerous side-bars accompanying it.

Now it's a footnote. It's like when a newspaper story has a glaring error that changes the entire tone of a piece, it gets buried in the back pages. Nothing on the front page of ESPN.com, the story's over until the appeal.

I had the misfortune of switching on the Sports Hub while WEEI was in commercial--I'm a recent convert back to EEI because of this deflate gate nonsense--and caught the lead-in to Adam Jones' show, which started shortly after this report was published. His comments (not verbatim obviously): "I'm tired of this story, I'm sick of it. But we're going to talk about it. I haven't read the full report but the conclusion is that the science in the Wells report was wrong, and the numbers imply no deflation. OK, let's play that game, let's say that's true...then what about the 'deflator' text message, because I'm not buying the weight loss excuse. What about sneaking off to a bathroom with the footballs?" -that's when I yelled at my radio and clicked it off.

And this is where we are...the ****ing idiots who report on these things are tired of it. And they've been pumping the 'deflator' text and the bathroom visit since day one, ignoring the science, ignoring the plausible explanations by the Patriots. The NFL has painted themselves in a corner, by now they must know nothing happened but 31 fan bases and owners don't care about the truth, and the one owner who counts chose money over loyalty and honor and respect and legacy.

All comes down to Brady and the NFLPA. I hope they fight this so, so bad. Only way this gets cleared is if Brady's willing to go the distance, hopefully he's like his dad and is sick and tired of his name getting dragged through the mud because the NFL is too ****ing stupid and too inept to realize and admit when they dun F'd up.
Yeah, I know the idiot position: "who needs all this truth and science when we have the inflamed passions of a bunch of jealous morons on our side. Plus look at all the hits we get from sh*tting on the Patriots! You think we're going to give that up? Heck no!"

Just heard Adam (mini felger) Jones say that on the radio on the ride home.

Yeah, his act is tired. He makes it sound like McNally went into some clandestine dungeon under the stadium rather than going to the bathroom.

My main argument of the people who bring up the other evidence is that if Wells could manipulate and spin the science in such an illogical way, how can you believe anything in the report? Were the texts more damning out of context than they are in context of the entire text conversation? What does the video of McNally taking the balls out of the refs' room actually show and not the spin that Wells spun?

When a significant part of the report is in question (the science), everything needs to be questioned.

It certainly was not. It was over the top.

@SI_PeterKing Also punishment was a slap on the wrist.

This entire situation has been insane, but comments like that make me wonder if we're not part of some elaborate joke or experiment. The heaviest fine in league history is a "slap on the wrist" and people seriously believe this. What does that make every other punishment the league has doled out? Non-existent? The NFL basically told the the Falcons, "Count to 10, fast" as their penalty (The Jets got to count to 3)?

Reading some of the other tweets in that discussion, the argument was made that it's because of the Patriots history of breaking the rules. The obvious question is, what history? One incident, 8 years ago? The only thing that makes that "history" significant is that no one has been able to shut up about since it happened. I don't believe the league has ever taken a team's history into account for punishing a current infraction. The "history" of teams like the Broncos, Steelers and Jets hasn't made any difference in any punishment they've received recently and I doubt we'll ever hear it invoked again. The NFL makes the unprecedented move to apply that standard to the Patriots and people act like it's completely routine, like adding a defensive face mask penalty onto the end of a run. Just insane.

I've never listened to him, but I'd wager that if a negative story came out, like McNally confessing or a former Patriots back-up QB saying he used to help Brady deflate footballs, Jones would find a way to sick or tired of this story. Because it's not a negative story and requires a little but of thinking, people like Jones don't want to talk about it anymore.

No, on the contrary. Kessler's argument won't mean **** during the appeal hearing because Goodell is the arbitrator. My point was that Kessler's argument will only be pertinent if Brady decides to mount a legal challenge. I once thought that was a foregone conclusion. Now, I think there's no chance that happens. This is over. In my opinion, it'll be 2 games and Brady will take it

Kessler is going to use the appeal to gather more ammunition against Goodell when it gets to court and I see no way it doesn't end up there, especially now that they have this to work with. Goodell is not v reducing it to zero and Brady isn't taking the suspension unless he does. I can't wait for Kessler to shred the NFL in court.

Not to defend the indefensible (ESPN) but, in fairness, ESPN did report on the AEI findings.

I was wondering if they would do so and how much time and credence they would give it. Should be interesting to see how out plays out.
