Deflating deflategate --[Mod Edit] AEI Opinion Piece in NY Times

The awesome graphic is using the average PSI readings from the gauge that Anderson thought he used and not the gauge that Wells assumed. Shouldn't matter as the non-logo gauge average was around 11.1 which is just under the expected range and the Colts footballs are still way above the expected range.

His rep may be ruined..but all the damage to the pats has already been done...at least media and fans wise...but **** them anyways

Not to defend the indefensible (ESPN) but, in fairness, ESPN did report on the AEI findings.

Deflategate was top billing for the entire week after the AFCCG and again after the Wells report was released. It was the main piece on ESPN.com, with numerous side-bars accompanying it.

Now it's a footnote. It's like when a newspaper story has a glaring error that changes the entire tone of a piece, it gets buried in the back pages. Nothing on the front page of ESPN.com, the story's over until the appeal.

I had the misfortune of switching on the Sports Hub while WEEI was in commercial--I'm a recent convert back to EEI because of this deflate gate nonsense--and caught the lead-in to Adam Jones' show, which started shortly after this report was published. His comments (not verbatim obviously): "I'm tired of this story, I'm sick of it. But we're going to talk about it. I haven't read the full report but the conclusion is that the science in the Wells report was wrong, and the numbers imply no deflation. OK, let's play that game, let's say that's true...then what about the 'deflator' text message, because I'm not buying the weight loss excuse. What about sneaking off to a bathroom with the footballs?" -that's when I yelled at my radio and clicked it off.

And this is where we are...the ****ing idiots who report on these things are tired of it. And they've been pumping the 'deflator' text and the bathroom visit since day one, ignoring the science, ignoring the plausible explanations by the Patriots. The NFL has painted themselves in a corner, by now they must know nothing happened but 31 fan bases and owners don't care about the truth, and the one owner who counts chose money over loyalty and honor and respect and legacy.

All comes down to Brady and the NFLPA. I hope they fight this so, so bad. Only way this gets cleared is if Brady's willing to go the distance, hopefully he's like his dad and is sick and tired of his name getting dragged through the mud because the NFL is too ****ing stupid and too inept to realize and admit when they dun F'd up.

Maybe Ted needs to go back to school to learn some basic stats, engineering and science. Oh I forgot independent investigators are paid large sums of money to write what their clients want so any form of real knowledge is unnecessary for that job. I guess he could now start working for FIFA. I'm sure they could use someone with his obvious non-talents.

Anybody send it to Bob Crybaby Kravitz and his buddy ****head Doyel?

You know Doyle's response, if he isn't too chickensh!t to have one, will be along the lines of "we can't give the Patriots the benefit of the doubt because they have a history of doing this stuff" even with that being completely untrue. They all have their talking points. You know they know they are wrong because they actually stick to talking points.

What signs are those? Hiring Kessler??
Matt Flynn, the snap percentages in OTAs with JG. I believe hiring Kessler was designed to scare The Dope into recusing himself as arbitrator. Didn't work. Listen, I'm not some contrarian hater. I think my posting history would accurately paint me as an unapologetic homer, and I'm proud of it. I just think this one is over.

Even they have higher standards.

What you believe is not a sign. BB preparing for the possibility that the NFL decision would not be completely overturned is just contingency planning. Even if BB were 100% certain the case was going to court he would have to be an idiot to think the outcome is a sure thing. You can speculate about what Brady might do, but I see no signs that he will not take it as far as he can. To the contrary. You don't hire Kessler to accept a two game suspension on appeal.

No, on the contrary. Kessler's argument won't mean **** during the appeal hearing because Goodell is the arbitrator. My point was that Kessler's argument will only be pertinent if Brady decides to mount a legal challenge. I once thought that was a foregone conclusion. Now, I think there's no chance that happens. This is over. In my opinion, it'll be 2 games and Brady will take it
What leads you to that conclusion?

It's actually using both.

logo avg = 11.49
non-logo avg = 11.11

average using both = 11.3, as it shows.

It's pretty clear that it was the logo gauge though

I will be stunned if Brady doesn't fight to the end, even if in the process he essentially has to tell Bob Kraft to go shove it when Kraft encourages him to accept a "deal".

Am I crazy? It's about HONOR.

Nobody will care, because "what about the DEFLATOR text! And Brady wouldn't hand over his phone!"
Just heard Adam (mini felger) Jones say that on the radio on the ride home.

FWIW, neither has responded to me yet.
