Deflating deflategate --[Mod Edit] AEI Opinion Piece in NY Times

Everyone knows the report is nonsense at this point, but they have the majority. If you have the majority you don't need to be right.

But WAIT, the NY Post and the NY Daily News swear that the facts show the Pats deflated the footballs and are cheaters, this new report in the NY Times must be faulty, it can't be. Science and proof show the Pats didn't cheat ? This can't be right.

Why did it take this long? Well, among other things, the NFL lied about the basic facts concerning this situation for two months.

It took this long because they actually investigated the claims, did their own research, and came up with their own findings, rather than taking the NFL at its word, not reading the report, and feigning moral outrage.

In other words, they did exactly what Belichick and Pats fans have been clamoring for people to do from day one.

When it comes to the science of the Wells report and the media only focusing on "the deflator" text. And overlooking the science and how the Wells report went about it to reach their conclusions...

I just don't understand how anyone with a brain can read the Wells report and not see how awful it is. But like most so called independent studies, they only read the summary report. And it drives me f'n nuts..

And how the hell has Bill Nye the science guy got a pass in all this?

That clown went on TV and said Beli was a liar, when it turns out Beli was right.

Wow, the AEI study is great! I love the fact that the NFL pays millions for an "independent" report that somehow reaches a very unlikely conclusion, but a truly independent organization can take that report's own data and show that the conclusion was a farce. And it's not even hard to do...

This study + no direct evidence should be a slam dunk reversal and apologies all around..

Great read, thank you. As others have said, most of us here already know all of this. But it's nice to know that people outside this fanbase/forum/whatever, can actually think. The Wells report is biased garbage and I don't think it's going to age well.

Kraft rolled over like the small dog of the pack. The Patriots are guilty and fans know this.

I can't believe Kraft gave away those draft picks.
He didn't. They were taken and regardless of what he did or said they weren't coming back. No one was more pissed off or disappointed in his surrender than I was. But the idea that he just handed the picks over is nonsense. I know it sounds good and feels better, but it's ********. Continuing to claim otherwise is knowingly perpetuating a lie.

It's good that a truly independent analysis came to the conclusion that was obvious from just a cursory read of the Wells report. Goodell should be forced to resign for acting upon the Wells conclusion which was so obviously wrong

Whatever your politics, AEI is a very respected economics think tank and both writers, particularly Kevin Hassett, have impeccable credentials.

Of course, a 3 year old could tell that Wells was a crock of crap.

He absolutely should be forced to resign. the only issue is, how do you accomplish that?
