It will be great if BB gets slapped down by the NFLPA in his quest to build the worst possible secondary

what a jackass

Lmao- yeah that Belichick really doesn't know what he's doing. Pro Football Focus thinks his roster sucks and it's been years since he has won anything meaningful.

yep, that's what I posted, astonishment that BB is a hardass

I'm equally astonished that you are a moron. Belichick just won the Super Bowl with one of the youngest teams in football history and idiots like you are actually calling him a "jackass." You should stick to fantasy football because you clearly don't know jack sh.t about the real thing

you mean aside from the entire history of Pats players participating in only part of it? (see Garoppolo, Asa Watson and Cameron Fleming last year)
Those guys were all rookies last year, and I believe rookies have different rules for timing and when they are allowed/forced to practice. Maybe the team has different rules for rookies as well?

I will be honest and admit that I just don't know, but it's possible those guys got excused whereas Butler knew he had to either be on time or not at all.

wait you think that how good this year's secondary is depends on Belichick's past success or how good the overall roster is? Interesting, do you have a blog I can subscribe to?

We don't know the whole story, and Belichick likely has no interest in telling it to us. I trust his judgment, admit he is a bit harsh sometimes (e.g., Jonas last year, sitting Welker in the playoffs during an entire series because of his awesome jokes about feet). I know whatever he has been doing works really well, and people who do their job do not get disciplined for not doing their job.

I think Belichick knows what he is doing and you don't have a clue. Winning five bucks at Draft Kings doesn't make you nearly the expert you seem to think you are, and when all is said and done the Patriots will once again be one of the best teams in football and you will look Every bit as much of an idiot as all those calling for his head last October did. This idea that PFF gurus like you have that you know better how to put a football team together than Belichick is as delusional as it gets, so if I start a blog about coping with mental illness I will be sure to let you know. I have enough background working in that field to help you now I'm just not willing to share it for free.

What did the other players do so they would not be late? Arriving on time for an appointment can be controlled.

Lots of these guys come from the South East and Mid West where flights are delayed and sometimes cancelled every day from Spring until Fall yet they seem to get to their destinations on time. Wilfork spent off seasons in Florida. Never heard of him late, but then he was a Leader.

Failing to plan is planning to fail.

Your line of argument is essentially nonsensical. In any large group, you'll have variance, and you'll eventually have incidents, regardless of planning. It might be weather. It might be a car accident. It might be a power outage that leaves one without a working alarm. As it pertains to the real world, every single person on this site understands that. It's only when applied to the Patriots that people here seem to enjoy getting stupid about this stuff.

Reminds me of holding Welker out of the first half of the Jets playoff game. Gee that worked out well

go back to your calculators and internet games, nerd, and leave the REAL FOOTBAWW to the experts

BB should cancel mandatory minicamp like jeff fisher, I am sure he will get a lot of the love fisher gets too ....

Lol, it was the first drive not the first half.

Yes, and the Patriots expect their players to plan for the normal incidents and take extra precaution to avoid the unusual ones. That said, significant flight delays are normal incidents and it is reasonable to expect that players show the emotional maturity to figure out on their own that they should be within driving distance of the facility a couple of days prior to the beginning of camp. And, they should manage their personal lives in such a way so as to minimize the likelihood of unusual incidents, such as car accidents. That kind of emotional maturity is in the contract, so to speak.

I'm sure if Butler were driving to the facility that morning and was hit by another vehicle, to no fault of his own, and was late because of that, it would have been treated differently.

The window of opportunity for playing in the NFL is more akin to the birth of a child or a Broadway opening than it is to going to work everyday. You just make sure that nothing can get between you and showing up.
