Costas: Brady in convo as GOAT athlete of 21st Century

Messi needs to win the World Cup to complete his legacy. I wouldn't think any less of him if he didn't but there's just something missing if he didn't. Champions league is just a competition for the richest club.

I was amazed he was able to get that Argentina side to the finals and he was out of gas when they got there. Like winning the Super Bowl he will have a hole in his resume of they don't win a WC but it really won't diminish his greatness as a player it will just make it difficult to be considered the GOAT.

It should be noted though that Costas has never taken this whole deflate thing seriously, even when the Wells report came out.

Yet he is the one who interviewed Brady and then promoted how uncomfortable he was with the answers.

Thats part of the hilarity of this whole thing. It's been an attempt at moral posturing (much like spyagte was) for some to feel like they got something out of their NFL careers without actually winning anything. It's like "We never beat the Patriots or won a Superbowl but we can say we never cheated. Thats something they can't say" Unfortunately, they don't give out Rings for never being accused of cheating.

At the end of the day any informed peoples discussing rankings like who is the greatest of all time won't ever bring up spygate or deflategate because its low hanging fruit for barstool **** slingers as opposed to relevant football discourse. Nobody thinks Chris Carter was a better receiver or is ranked above Jerry Rice because of stickum (which Rice admitted to using) and nobody will claim Peyton Manning to be a better QB to Brady because of .2 psi which was caused by weather or the taping of defensive signals from a restricted area.

If that isn't the biggest premature accolade ever. The 21st century still has another 85 years...duh!
In 1915 they declared Babe Ruth one of the best young Red Sox pitchers. :)

E!SPN did this a number of years ago. The knockout style tournament was won by... I **** you not... Tiger Woods.

Yes, reason #3,426 to not take E!SPN seriously.

Yet that was back in January before the report.

Phelps.. 18 gold medals is unbelievable.
Roger Federer is the Wayne Gretzky of Tennis, an unbelievable athlete who is the unanimous greatest of all time in mens tennis.
Usain Bolt, b/c he literally shattered what was thought humanly possible.
Lionel Messi is probably the greatest soccer player of all time in terms of raw talent, rivaled maybe only by Pele.
Serena Williams is kinda in the conversation as well, b/c while she is not quite the goat in womens tennis, 20 majors is a big accomplishment.

Brady is just on the periphery of this group, and definitely in the conversation, but imo not quite at that same extreme levels of sustained dominance.

For instance if you go by the statistic value over replacement, you will find that people like Messi and Federer in the 2ks are so ridiculously beyond what past champions have accomplished that its as if they are from a different planet.
