Interesting...

Wright has great hands but cannot Block a fly! He didn't even look like a TE too light in the pants.

AJ Derby and Fred Davis have reason to smile this morning.

So how soon do the Rats put in a claim?

Wow, maybe Kraft is trying to do what's best for the league by bringing the team back to the middle of the pack.
I'm seriously surprised he couldn't have been traded for a late draft pick

Could be good news about Fred Davis. If he returns to his pre-suspension form, steal.

Not shocking at all. We bring in Chandler, Fred Davis and draft AJ Derby.

Writing was easily on the wall for all to see. Plus the added reps after practice with Gronk and Chandler with Brady? Come on.

Belichick expects, no, demands that his tight ends block well. Wright just didn't cut it as a blocker.

@MikeReiss: Tim Wright wasn't a big factor on offense in playoffs, playing 10 out of a possible 217 offensive snaps over three games.

Also, Hooman is one of those players BB likes more than the fans do. My roster projection had 4 TEs making the roster with Gronk, Chandler, Hooman, and Davis. Maybe Derby surprises us too.

I had great expectations for the guy. In hindsight, I bought too much into his rookie production with a bad QB. Oh well, even a fourth for Mankins and the cap space he freed up still is a win for the Pats.

Does this mean Tampa "won" the Mankins trade?

Not surprised this happened in the end. I am surprised it happened right now.

I doubt you could find 90 players better than him. Maybe they like him and are doing him a solid by releasing him early knowing it is very unlikely he makes it.

Clearly Gronk and Chandler are the top 2. Hooman is probably on this team no matter what people think. The 4th spot is not super important but Derby or Davis probably have more overall up side and versatility than Wright.

I wish him luck and thank him for what he did for the team last year.

Really surprised to see this so early on.

26 catches on 33 attempts for 6TDs and 18FDs is not inconsequential, particularly on a team that has Gronk as the other TE. 26 out of 33 is pretty great.

It's not like the release saves much against a CAP we're nowhere near anyway... Just very surprising. TE is a high-injury position. If Davis doesn't pan out as hoped and Chandler gets hurt, this in one move that might be regretted.

And regarding the Mankins trade, don't leave out the 13+ million $$$$ saved against the CAP over 2 years.

So the remains of the trade is Logan Mankins for Trey Flowers.
Wasn't it tre Jackson in that spot? It also gave us a bunch of cap space which made it so we could afford the mid season signings and trades.
