I'm sure it was a very tumultuous off-season for Kraft.
I'm also sure his ass hasn't fully healed yet.

Are you kidding me with this? This is a message board for posting opinions and sharing information. Who cares if anybody agrees with your opinion or not, share away. Do not be the thought police.

No, he's not kidding. Just like in the non virtual world, everything anyone does here affects everyone else here, even if we are too numb or blind to notice it. It is a community. You are a community member as soon as you post. What you think of that, or how you feel about it, doesn't make it any less so. Pretending that it isn't a community, and acting without that sense of responsibility, is simply one stance to take as a community member.

Yeah, and then you won't be able to sign anyone else. This league has a salary cap. In other words, you can't exceed a certain amount of total payroll.

I understand that but you can't tell me if Brady had demanded top dollar then the pats couldnt have found a way to pay. I'm not a salary cap expert but was the patriot cap situation so bad that Kraft would actually tell Brady it just wasn't possible if Brady demanded top $? I doubt it. I think Kraft is just stupid. Brady has proven he can win with almost anybody.

The Patriots have something like 10 million in salary cap space and the cap is projected to go up 10+ million next year.

I am a little disappointed in how the Patriots aren't spending money.

He didn't Andy was quoting Kraft but Ivan thought he was saying what he thought, and then Ivan blocked him so now Ivan can't see Andy explaining how Ivan misinterpreted what he said.

Follow all that?

I didn't misinterpret anything, Andy is a Douchebag who spends all his energy trying to start arguments and I have zero interest in that. I should have put him on ignore years ago but now will do just fine for the future. I come to talk football not to argue with people and he's incapable of anything other than arguing.

Pats will NEED to carry forward salary cap to re-sign vets and more importantly to sign vet FA to replace their lost, cheaper 1st round draft pick in 2016 and 4th in 2017.
Thanks Bob Kraft!

Yeah I've gotten pretty into hockey the last couple of years. This year has been phenomenal. I like how small of a role the refs play in it. They don't have their own names and personalities like NFL refs have. They're just simply "the refs".

I agree, it is the best officiated sport of the major sports.

The NFL is supposed to be fun. A diversion from life. Lately, paying bills gets me less infuriated than following football coverage. That's not the way it's supposed to be. If my hobby aggravates me...

This is a beautiful, short statement of why this entire thing has been such a travesty.

Football has been a passion of mine ever since I was a little kid, playing in little league before the Pop Warner program was available in my region.

I grew up absolutely obsessing over football. My dad brought me to my first live football game at the old Foxboro stadium when the Pats were playing Joe Montana and the 49ers, who growing up were one of my favorite teams (I loved the Pats, but was also a little kid on the 49ers bandwagon in a war with my Cowboy fan friends) and Jerry Rice was my hero growing up (now I think he's a douche, but a super talented douche)

I still remember that feeling when Madden said the Patriots should just kneel and play for overtime in 2001 against the Rams, and instead Brady drove them down the field and setup an Adam V kick.. I was with a large group of family and friends, we had watched nearly every game that year together and we were all just in silence with extreme anxiety, on the edge of our seats just staring at the screen frozen... and then "THE KICK IS GOOD! THE KICK IS GOOD!!! THE PATRIOTS ARE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!"

I became even more addicted after that... needing to know about every player on the team, attending the public training camps every single year, rewatching games trying to pretend I'm Bill Belichick breaking down game film... watching all of the 3 games to glory dvds more times than I can count... buying tons and tons of merchandise, dvds, jerseys, paying for the NFLN.

I was so happy and proud to be following this team, to have sports figures that you could look up to like Brady, Bruschi, Harrison, McGinest, Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk, Matt Light, Wilfork, Vrabel, etc etc etc..

Now, that joy and that spark I had for this game and this team has been nearly obliterated by Kraft's BETRAYAL of possibly Bostons greatest sports legend of all time and the betrayal of his fans for that soulless piece of garbage and his cronies over on park avenue.

Words can't even describe how disgusted and saddened I am by this entire ordeal... 2007 was horrible because not only did we lose in a humiliating fashion in the SB, but all of our teams past accomplishments were under attack by the media and being called into question by the hungry masses looking for blood.

We moved past that and 10 years after our last SB, after 10 years of playoff disappointments, with 1 playoffless season mixed in, we finally had our chance at redemption... they completely and utterly annihilate the spineless Colts in the AFCCG after an unbelievable comeback game in the Divisional round against the Ravens... and instead of enjoying the build up in the 2 weeks leading to the SB, we instead had 24/7 coverage on how our team and our hero are cheaters over what ultimately amounts to 0.3 PSI in a football.

Then after we win the SB, it was still difficult to enjoy it because we still had PSI shoved down our throats and everyone ignore the historic 4th quarter comeback in the SB and the miracle interception by Butler. All of the narrative was about why Carroll was such an idiot for calling that pass play. People completely forgot about/ignored what had just transpired on the field in that final quarter and put the focus on why Seattle handed the Patriots the SB, rather than a narrative on how it was one of the most clutch and impressive comebacks in NFL history on the biggest stage.

Even after all of that ********, I was still able to get past it by being a part of a unified Patriot Nation, lead by our once in a lifetime QB, our mad scientist coach and our classy as f*** owner.... Until the betrayal happened.

When Kraft crawled on his hands and knees to that podium, after wiping Goodell's protein off of his face, and spewed that sewage out of his mouth about how this was for the greater good of the 31 other teams and just bent over and spread his cheeks to give Goodell and his pals a nice bullseye to commence their drilling operation... right at that moment I was filled with an indescribable mix of emotions like appalled, enraged, angered, shocked, horrified, betrayed, saddened and confused.

Kraft, in 1 short press conference, tore my heart out of my chest and took a **** in the cavity that it left behind, and has sucked nearly all the joy I've felt and experienced since I was about 5 years old out of this sport.

F*** you Kraft.

TL;DR. I'm upset by Kraft's actions lol

I've also posted from North Carolina, New York City, upstate New York, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Toronto. I am still a Patriots fan. However, unlike many on this board, I am not blind in my devotion and judge fairly, just like I would any other team. Would we be so against deflategate if this were against another team? Of course not.

I would call this absurd if it happened to any team. You don't make up rules as you go and that's what this is. The NFL has played tens of thousands of games and never once has a ball been checked during a game, now it is the most vital thing to be done and the penalty for a ball being under is suddenly a huge fine, first round pick and a quarter of a season suspension because a player may have known that something may or may not have happened. It's a disgrace and it doesn't matter who it happened to. The NFL is a pathetic joke and my interest may not let much longer as a result.

Only a ****** would think this is a substantive issue.

Ohhhhhhh, I see a dislike in your future................

His actions matter more.

I think this is one of the rare cases where that's incorrect.

His (in)action of not suing the league isn't the problem; I'm persuaded by the argument that he couldn't realistically have done so. But if he'd said "Unfortunately there is no way for me to keep fighting this terribly unjust decision", we wouldn't be particularly angry with him right now.

Are you kidding me with this? This is a message board for posting opinions and sharing information. Who cares if anybody agrees with your opinion or not, share away. Do not be the thought police.
No, I'm not "kidding you with that." I sure as hell am not the thought police. I agree with you: posting reasoned opinions (contrarian or not) and sharing information is one thing, Trolling is another. If you took the time to peruse Interception's posting history -- and how he has treated others here -- you might have a different perspective.

Kraft has jumped the shark. Had he turned over the reins to Jonathan last year, he could have sailed off into the sunset as the owner who built a dynasty. Instead like the aging superstar who played one season too many (e.g. Willie Mays with the Mets) his reputation takes a hit...
He could easily have said,
" Look I am caught on both sides. As an owner, I am one of 32 whose job is to promote this league but I am bound by the League Constitution as to what I can and can't do . But as owner of the New England Patriots, my responsibility is to do whatever I can for the betterment of this franchise. I totally believe my QB, Tom Brady had nothing to do with any deflation and the only person to blame is Mother Nature. I have appealed this unjust, unfair league punishment and even if unsuccessful, I hope it will send a message that I support all involved unconditionally because I believe and the science proves them to be innocent. I commissioned the website wellsreportcontext.com to buttress this argument and show the league, the Commissioner, the fans and the media that there was nothing done against the rules and nothing that goes against the integrity of the game.
When it's all said and done, I hope Tom is out there week 1 when we raise the banner."

That is support for your QB without selling out to the other 31 owners.......

All that but change the last part to I hope we raise the banner week one rather than Oct 25th.

The NFL spent millions of dollars on a 250 page report that tried to prove that Brady was guilty. When the report was unable to find any proof of Brady's guilt, goodell decided he was guilty anyways.

This has been a witch hunt from the start.

Therefore I don't buy that anyone has any hidden proof of Brady's guilt. Especially The NFL. If so, they would've used it and suspended Brady for the year.

That is my point. Brady CANNOT be guilty of deflating footballs because the footballs were not deflated. The psi in the footballs was exactly what footballs that are inflated to 12.5psi measure in the conditions.

Its like saying Brady cheated because water that measured 65 degrees in the locker room measured 79 degrees after being out on the field in the sun for the first half. When the measurement is what science says it is supposed to be you have proven beyond any shadow of doubt that manipulation could not have possibly happened.

Did you just tl:dr your own posting???????????????

All I see is six positive ratings for you calling someone a ******. Massholes in full effect. Won't even bother with the rest of your post. Have a nice day and remember -- belichick and Brady are flawless and always right!

You don't post in a vacuum, sport. This is a community. Your "truth" more often than not should be kept to yourself, because more often than not it is beyond reason. THAT is what others are pointing out to you via feedback. You absolutely should pay attention and care about that. Otherwise, you're simply being a troll. Just look around you. I've been on this forum nearly 11 years and never have seen a member amass as much negative feedback in as few posts as yourself.

Once again, I will not change my opinion on sports just because a large majority of people disagree with me. Anyone who does so is naive.

I don't think "naive" is the word you want to use here, instead, you could try "a sheep" or "easily swayed." Naive just doesn't fit.

Haha I thought about using sheep, but I think the point is clear anyway.

I share the disappointment and sadness that others have expressed, maybe we should start to put energy in what matters and is in our control, like family and career.

When I was deep into sports gambling a few years ago, especially on NBA, watching and following a bunch of games every night and discussing in forums at the same time, it was obvious for anyone deep involved in this kind of gambling how the game was fixed. Not every night but every once in a while some games were extremely dubious. Even Vegas changing the lines before the game was enough for a bunch of experienced gamblers to jump ship in some games like DO NOT BET ON THIS GAME. Low profile tennis tournaments are also a thing of beauty, in the opposite way. I remember once losing a good money betting on a game in an Italian tournament with a Italian player giving up the game big time, I was almost breaking my computer watching that farce, then I thought, "Well what do I want, betting in a tournament in Italy?"

Major leagues make and move a lot of money, it's obvious that a lot of guys involved in the top layers of the business are not particularly interested in "sports honor" or whatever, major leagues are run by sharks just like any other private entertainment business that moves a lot of money. I just thought that since the NFL season is short and unpredictable, this few ingredients were enough to make houses always win, not needing to interfere directly in the game. I was wrong, and this is what makes me really sad. I don't trust the game anymore, I'll keep watching knowing that what I'm watching might be completely designed.
