I was hoping he could give the Patriots a little "tude" this year.
This car crash news is disappointing.

Leaving the scene < OUI
I read this morning from Atty Michael McCann that leaving the scene of an accident which results in bodily injuries can result in a 2 year jail sentence in MA.

Anyone think he gets re-signed IF the investigation comes up empty?

Alan Branch got caught leaning out his car door throwing up from partying too hard. The Bills let him go and New England signed him not long afterwards.

Actually, Branch was released on August 24th by the Bills. The Pats didn't sign him until October 21st.. Nearly 2 months later..

Fair enough. Apart from Russia that must a basic law in every country of this world.

At this point it's very unlikely he's totally clear, even if he did borrow the car to a friend, bad company when you're a football player is not a good thing, shows bad judgment and BB must be in a 0 tolerance program after the Hernandezgate. Trying to translate an old saying from here, a bird who walks with the bats wakes up upside down. That must be a equivalent of The man who sleeps with dogs wakes up with fleas.

Per 98.5:

Driver not identified
120+ MPH traveling speed
80-85 MPH hitting back of Nissan
275 ft skid marks
I keep trying to tell everyone, he was in a hurry trying to beat Brady to the weight room at Gillette. There was an earthquake. A tornado. A terrible flood! It wasn't his fault. Dude was set up.

It's driving like this that scares the crap out of me when I'm driving on the highway. Too many people think they can do this and never think they'll kill someone or themselves. Scary.

I don't think it's zero tolerance per se; it's zero tolerance for an "I'm almost too stupid to live" mentality in players that can be cut without consequences.

Lemme just put it in perspective: if JJ Watt were a Patriot and he did this, the Pats wouldn't be releasing him.

Spikes was released before for doing something stupid, late for a meeting or something, I can't recall. Bill probably brought him back with a VERY short leash, and low and behold, he's gone again.

I know what you're saying but I wouldn't be too sure about that, especially if criminal charges appear imminent. Once Hernandez was charged it was adios.

Do you want Kraft to shell out more money for backup linebackers?
I want Krafty Bob to shell out $ period...and I want him to stop taking taxpayer $ for national guard festivities.... How's that?

In addition, most new or high end cars have EDR electronic data recorders that record speed, and other data. Police will have evidence of his speed.........If he has Onstar, they have all the data.....

Big Brother is watching.........
We have a fairly new mini-van that has OnStar. Don't have to worry about Mrs Robertweathers going over 75 in that thing.

Hardly high-end :p

Belichick's response as to why the Patriots didn't release Spikes:

After being lectured by the League office about integrity countless times we decided to adopt their integrity model. Going forward, including Brandon's situation, we won’t hold any of our employees accountable for integrity related issues, instead we will point fingers elsewhere, make false accusations, and no longer concern ourselves with collateral damage...as long as it makes the Patriots stronger.

Frankly, this doesn't seem that bad. But it is Spikes, who has a history of issues with the team. And it is Patriots, who are probably extra sensitive to public perception right now.

Don't know, maybe there are other details, but while this is bad at a personal level, I'm surprised the team cut him because of it. I wonder what facts we don't know...

"Doesn't seem that bad"? if you are s driver and you cause an accident, you are morally obligated to stop and make certain the person/people you may have injured are not in need of medical attention. It doesn't matter if it ends up no one was injured, the act itself is a responsibility without exception IMHO.

For a driver that says 'I did something wrong, I need to get out of here right now!' despite causing an accident with unknown levels of injury, they are a demonstrated hazard to you, your family, your friends and anyone else on the road. Fortunately the law sees it that way too.
