Where's Butler?

Still at the RMV in line waiting to register his new (Brady) vehicle. His ticket # is F6,456,789,331. He'll be back by week 6...

Last I heard, he was in the parlor, with the fire poker, and a dead Colonel Mustard.

Who, where, when? Link?

It was discussed at some point within the past week or two, maybe even 2-3 weeks ago if there was another mini camp or OTA session earlier.

Like I said--we don't even know if it was true or not, but the bigger type of helmet was mentioned. Hopefully, his absence is purely cautionary, particularly at this point in early June. Here's hoping for a hangnail!

He has an appearance in Weymouth on June 20th to reopen Legion Field, so that's a date to look for if he doesn't show up before then.

Jonas Gray had one good game and then ended up on Belichick's dodo list. I hope Butler
hasn't done the same after one great play. He has to do more than just show up to earn a spot
on the 53 man roster. Every day Fletcher and Ryan practice, Butler is less apt to be a starter.

We don't know why Butler isn't there. It is that simple.

After the season was over, many folks thought that Butler might or might not make the team. The doubters were convinced that he was likely to make it, even if he were the #5 CB.

When we lost a complete backfield (Revis, Browner, Arrington, Dennard and Chekwa), all of a sudden Butler was a sure starter.

As others have said, Butler NEEDS practice time.

98.5 assures me he's disgruntled about his contract. They base that on a fly that flew up Maz's nose.

As @ctpatsfan77 has pointed out, that isn't a possibility (not meaning to claim that is YOUR opinion).

Butler has been making plays since last summer, and made the team when we had FOUR other CBs offering decent talent. He led the entire secondary in completion percentage allowed at 33% during the postseason.

Obviously, he's going to make the team as long as he's healthy. The only question is whether or not he'll be starting. That's it.

Whether or not Ryan or Fletcher beat him out is irrelevant. We play a nickle defense with at least three CBs 3/4 of the time, so there is obviously a need for him in some capacity.

Jonas Gray not only showed up late and then openly questioned it on twitter, but he also played at a position that had better options and depth ahead of him. That does not apply in Butler's case, at least in my opinion.

If Butler becomes a pain in the neck and can't concentrate on doing the job, he will be cut regardless
of lack of depth at the position.

Never knew about his Twitter deal, thanks for the info. That explains it to me a bit better.

Yes, we need a 4th corner and, at this point, Butler is that 4th corner.

Yes, we need a nickel. That doesn't make Butler a nickel back. That man is McClain.

Yes, Butler made the roster last year. He was 6th in the depth chart. Ryan had almost twice as many reps as Butler.

2014 Defensive Reps
Revis 93
Browner 53
Ryan 46
Arrington 41
Dennard 22
Butler 17

We don't have four of the players ahead of Butler last year. We only added Fletcher and McClain. So, sure we need Butler.

I called 98.5 's Adam Jones today. Even though I told the screener twice that I am Patscap. Adam was not sure that I was and asked me on Twitter if I was the Miguel who called.

The CBA prohibits the changing of an UDFA contract during its first two years.
Quoting CBA:
(ii) A Rookie Contract for an Undrafted Rookie may not be renegotiated, amended or altered in any way until after the final regular season game of the player’s second contract year.

Adam then tweeted "Ahh my mistake! Thanks for correcting so I didn't sound like an idiot for any longer than I had to. Why would CBA want to prohibit?"

Ah. Yeah, he didn't want to believe you. I heard that. 'I'm going to double check this!'

The funny thing is that he could have asked how I knew that but did not. The call just ended.

I don't disagree with what you're implying. I simply think that we need to have some kind of information to base that off of, that's all. As of now, there's nothing whatsoever to suggest that Butler has been anything close to a problem in any capacity.

The next time you call maybe you can give him a little science class. It might help him with his scientifically illiterate rhetoric.
