Bill Leavy, the NFL referee who is best remembered for his admission of making two big boo-boos in Super Bowl XL in Detroit is being taken off the field this season and will be bumped upstairs to a supervisory role in the league’s officiating department.

While nationally, Leavy is best known for admitting he “kicked” two decisions in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh’s 21-10 win over Seattle in Super Bowl XL, Patriots fans might remember him for something else.

Leavy was the official in the now infamous rain game at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 16, 2014. That was the contest the Patriots barely held on and won, 27-25, when Chris Jones blocked Nick Folk’s field goal attempt on the game’s last play. During the investigation of Deflategate, it was revealed that Tom Brady was upset that some of the footballs were over inflated, leading to his alleged demand of team staff to make sure that his footballs are better prepared in the future.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say the NFL is trying to cover something up.

Or put him in a position that, like Mike Kensil, allows him to negatively influence the Pats through a layer of insulation.

The funny part is the title of the article makes it sound like he was let go, and you read it and it sounds like he was promoted. When I heard of the 16 psi I thought, watch it be in the Jets game and low and behold it was. I don't trust the league at all when it comes to them. 16 psi is no accident that's either an FU or a fix.

Just like the penalty on the Pats in OT that gave the Rats a gimme FG, a penalty that has never been called before, or since, in the history of the NFL*.

I also think it was no coincidence that Spygate originated at Rats stadium.

Yet no matter what the Rats do, they never get more than a wrist slap, even with a precedent of them committing the same offense previously, and other teams already being punished more severely for the same offense.

But the Rats don't get preferential treatment from the NFL*, coincidence all!

Maybe the idea that the Rats always play the Pats tough, no matter how bad the Rats are, is true because they are getting assistance.

That's why it's the NYFL

I'm wondering the same thing about the Colts personnel testing the PSI of the intercepted ball. It's in the report, no one can claim it didn't happen and it's against the rules. Why, in the league's never ending quest for integrity, was this ignored? They couldn't send the Colts a warning letter or issue a small fine to demonstrate that the rules are important and apply to everyone.

Regarding Leavy overinflating footballs, if it was included in the report, I'm guessing Wells would claim that Leavy followed the normal pre-game inspection protocols and had no recollection of the balls being at 16 PSI. Since the NFL officials are infallible and beyond reproach, Wells would claim Jastremski and McNally made this story up and had a text conversation about it to cover their tracks. Considering that Wells spun everything about the Patriots as negatively as possible, the fact that he didn't include an explanation like that is interesting.

I'm not too sure that what the Colt's did on the sideline to the intercepted ball was breaking the rules. That ball was going to the kept by the Colt's player as a keepsake and it was not going to go back into the game. It's not uncommon that the equipment guy would write on the ball to be able to identify it after the game. What pisses me off is that the officials used that one sideline reading as evidence that there was a problem then refused to look at subsequent measurements of the same ball because it did not support their agenda.

And one of the big reasons that I fell Kraft failed him team/business is that he could have appealed and at least had the chance to bring all this horsecrap up in a more public forum. He would not have won but at least he could have shown what a setup it was. His lawyers would at least have had a chance to ask the questions his website raised. He didn't have to sue but he should have at least had the appeal hearing.

Kraft chose not to embarrass the 31

That is what makes this all so beautiful to my eyes. Even with all the help, the Jests haven't won squat, and aren't even the Pats toughest foe in the AFCE. That would be the Dolphins, during the BB era and before.

It's funny, but people are so turned off by conspiracy theorists that they refuse to see an obvious conspiracy. This one is a plain as the forehead on Peyton's face.

And still, the Pats won the SB, and this time they did it with record breaking performances, an incredible double comeback and spectacular plays, one of which will go down as the greatest defensive play in NFL history. They did it with power running and deadly passing.

There it goes again, that smile.:):D
