CBS News "Epic Cheating Scandals"

It is a f..ing football, and the offense is no more than San Diego wiping down balls with stickum or Minnesota warming footballs..

That part in red is the part that bothers me coming from Pats fans.

There is NO offense!

Comparing anything about this witch hunt to real offenses is harmful to Brady and the Pats.

Let's face it. BB is Columbus and the rest of the world thinks the earth is flat. Only difference is we'll never be allowed to get to the truth of what really happened because the money and angst is heavily weighed on the other side.

I recall there being a think tank theory (before my time) that saw the way computers and automation was going. The people figured there'd be a serious concern because humans would have too much time. The think tank thought humanity would strive more towards the arts and refinement. Little did they know that computers, while allowing us to work faster, also became increasingly complicated and opened up new avenues for business and social expression.

I don't think they figured that humanity would turn on itself and try to bring the world/heroes down to their level. All the while, events turn around them...ones they feel they have little control over, that greatly affect their future.

Since when did "we" want to tear someone down like Brady. A kid who had to fight and work hard for everything he's earned. A kid who we'd be proud to call one of ours. Instead, he's vilified for being what, too good? People want to believe he's bad so they don't have to look at themselves and realize they've wasted time rather than making their dreams come true.

I say we need more people like Brady, so rock on and take the NFL* to task. Maybe it doesn't pay dividends now, but perhaps it will down the road. Either way, I'd rather make up my own mind and vote my values (in a reasonable way).

To be fair, I don't believe this list is in any way a ranking. It's just a bunch of cheating and "cheating" scandals with sports over the past whatever years. The reason Deflategate is number 2 is because its still prominent in the national conscious since it happened so recently. It's not ranked at number 2, it's just the second listed. Now that IS meant to subtly imply that its a bigger deal than some others but not in a direct sense.

While I'm note sure it's a a ranking or not why not do it all in chronological order if it's not. Either way it's a horrid list. It doesn't include Italian serie A fixing or the rugby blood substitutions cheat. Yet the patriots feature twice with things that did not change the outcome of a single game.

yet CBS makes no mention of JFK stealing the 1960 election from richard nixon, which included registering of dead people.

...as he makes a free throw

I tried to get CBS, too

Maybe the lamest part of this is “while the Indianapolis Colts insist that the Patriots were the better team and would have won the 2015 AFC Championship regardless..”

Yes, the noble, gracious-in-defeat Colts who wanted nothing to do with any of this….except for illegally tampering with the ball on the sideline, tipping off reporters, and cooperating in the whole sleazy operation.

The Pats can’t win games next year by enough points.

I think old school journalism is slowly dying. It's moving more towards a more tabloid entertainment type of news. The old standard of journalism had Walter Cronkite. while the current journalism has the likes of Brian Williams who has trouble distinguishing fiction from reality.

The internet has made it so that anybody that has a computer and can put together a website can call themselves a journalist. Google deflategate and you get 6.8 million hits and thats just articles about deflategate. When you add in the views each article gets and you start reaching mind boggling numbers. Somebody post an original article on deflategate and thousands of websites repeat it. How many articles about deflategate have each one of us clicked on and then multiply that by the thousands of other interested readers.

Does a few clicks from Patsfans make a difference. Does a hundred fans showing up to support Brady make a difference. Does a few guys chaining themselves together at NFL HQ make a difference. Probably not but sometimes you just have to make a personal statement even if it's just a fan that walks away from the game forever or just one who decides not to add another view to click bait.

CBS "News" has been irrelevant for a long, long time.
