If anyone would bid, it would be a bunch of yahoos.

This is great news. I've heard that there are tons of Jacksonville fans all over Europe, the Middle East and the pacific rim who usually never get to see a Jags game broadcasted.

I just made that up. Internet.

Sadly, this is the reason why Roger Goodell is still Commish. The other owners see $20m free dollars they didn't have before. They don't consider whether another commish could have gotten them more. They'll only force Goodell out when Goodell's transgressions are perceived to cost the league more than what he is perceived to be bringing in.

Krafty gets back 625K of his $1 mill fine. Billionaire Bob will be all square by the Fourth of July......."We are all Patriots"

20 million isn't a lot of money when you consider they get to sell and keep all of the ad revenue for a globally streamed nfl football game.

Ad revenue will be double the cost they paid to get it.

But who's going to stream it???

Makes sense, Yahoo has their streaming service set up (although in my experience Yahoo Screen sucks), but they're kinda starved for original content.

In 2014, the NFL dished out $6 billion to their 32 teams in nation TV revenue.
$6 billion /(16 games x 16 weeks) = $23,437,500 / regular season game.
Correctly assuming playoff games comprise a significant proportion of the $6 billion package, the actual regular season revenue is much less than $23.4 million per game.
My point...the $20 million Yahoo expenditure for a crappy game with little world wide interest is on par with regular TV revenue.
The owners will look at this "a la carte" money making opportunity and likely start messing with schedules, alternate media opportunities, etc....and game viewing will likely be far different than what we have grown accustomed to....in the not so distant future.
Sports on computers blows. Greedy Krafty and his geriatric club buddies.

"Industry executives familiar with the NFL’s negotiations think Yahoo paid at least $20 million for the rights to stream the game; in return it has exclusive ad rights for the game. The league bid out the streaming rights and at least one other tech company made a very competitive offer, sources say."
And some idiots will say Goodell makes the league profitable. A ******ed monkey can take money thrown at him.

Seriously. The NFL could have hired a guy that ran a deli and the NFL would probably be making as much as they are now.

It wasn't goodell that made the NFL this big it is a combination of things goodell had nothing to do with.

It's really easy to stream from computer to TV these days. A $30 chromecast pretty much does it for you, and Yahoo's streaming app already has chromecast support built in.
