Your desire to maintain proper English, while praise worthy, it is a futile endeavor for the very reason you claim as being your primary support,Public Schools.

Have you really taken a look at what is being taught in Public Schools? What i mean by really taken a look is personally reviewing the texts they are using. While i have not attended private or Public Schools in more then 4o yrs i do have grand children in them and what was education in my day does not exist today. To blame that on entities other than Public Education itself is simply denial.
Many might characterize that blame as misplaced. Blaming others for one's shortcomings is scapegoating. There are hundreds of millions of public school students who achieve at high levels (i.e. about 70% of Ivy League students come from public schools) across the United States. I'm sorry to learn from you that your grandchildren are not among them.

LOL. My favorite part:

Bob McGovern's tweet reads:

Also from this motion (which is pure gold): Robert Kraft has fooled us into "believing his version of macaroni and cheese" is best.

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese IS the best, my friend!!! I know it has nothing to do with the Patriots' Robert Kraft, but I will not allow Kraft Mac & Cheese to be slurred!!!!

Kraft, or any other boxed mac & cheese, is not nearly as good as home made. You need the onion flavor and the breadcrumbs. Also, for a change try adding some chopped up and slightly sauteed Kielbasa to the sharp chedder mix. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Maybe if folks just drove, and did not multitask(drink coffee, put on makeup or text) we might all be a little safer....

Maybe if prisoners were just prisoners and not purveyors of frivolous lawsuits we would all be better off..

You really think that public schools are on a par with private schools? I don't, and I don't think many others do either. There's a reason that people spend big bucks to send their kids to a private HS instead of sending them to a public HS for free.

Look, I don't intend to get into a urination contest with anyone over this issue because it's complicated and multilayered. I'm a product of both public and private schools and spent an entire career working in the education field. My point, which isn't nearly as complicated as the issue itself, is relatively simple: arriving at broad, absolute conclusions about the quality of all public or all private schools is unwise. I'd be glad to elaborate if you send me a personal message. I don't think continuing this dialogue on this forum is appropriate or productive.

I wish people would stop referencing that case as if she got paid a ton of money for ruined dry cleaning.

"A New Mexico civil jury awarded $2.86 million to plaintiff Stella Liebeck, a 79-year-old woman who suffered third-degree burns in her pelvic region when she accidentally spilled hot coffee in her lap after purchasing it from a McDonald's restaurant. Liebeck was hospitalized for eight days while she underwent skin grafting, followed by two years of medical treatment.

Liebeck's attorneys argued that at 180–190 °F (82–88 °C) McDonald's coffee was defective, claiming it was too hot and more likely to cause serious injury than coffee served at any other establishment. McDonald's had refused several prior opportunities to settle for less than what the jury ultimately awarded.[2] The jury damages included $160,000[3] to cover medical expenses and compensatory damages and $2.7 million in punitive damages. The trial judge reduced the final verdict to $640,000, and the parties settled for a confidential amount before an appeal was decided."

McDonald's was negligent, and the woman only sought $20k for her medical expenses.

C'mon folks. Link, or this website gets sued.

Don't laugh, this is probably going to be the next NFL commissioner. Him or the guy who filed the lawsuit.

Fireman Ed.....Arbitrator Roger......it's all the same.

A urination contest? WTF are you talking about? You started this topic on here, not me. And I commented and asked you one simple question. If it's so difficult for you to answer you shouldn't have thrown your opinion out there in the first place. And no, I don't want to send you a PM or get one from you.

Guys it's not about the coffee it's about WHAT ELSE McDonald's is doing!!!! Like belichick and his secret cbs scoreboard, McDonald's is TAINTED!!!!

Bye.

The point is that the temp of the coffee in the container is typical and an inherent property of fresh coffee. Just as the weight of a brick is an inherent characteristic, or a knife being sharp is an inherent characteristic. You can no more blame McDonalds for making hot coffee than you could blame someone who makes bricks for making them heavy. Yes, you could injure yourself with these items but the qualities are known and predictable. The company could hardly be blamed for someone misusing a product (nobody warned me don't smash brick on foot!)

There is no logical distinction why coffee should occupy some special category where using it inappropriately is somehow the fault of the provider. There are infinite products that could injure when used inappropriately.

The problem with you is that you are completely ignorant about the case. The coffee was found to be excessively hot (over 200 degrees). And while I agree that the woman shouldn't have put it between her legs, the fact that it caused 3rd degree burns and required her to have skin grafts should tel you something.

This has nothing to do with football so I hesitate to comment, but even coffee served at the lowest end of what is considered the correct drinking temperature (155 to 175 degrees) would cause third degree burns. She was burned because she was holding hot coffee between her legs, not because she was holding "excessively hot" coffee between her legs.

I'm reminded of "Shards o' Glass."

There are some really crazy people out there but what's crazier is people who have successfully sued and won for cases like 80 year old woman accidentally spilling hot coffee on herself. Wtf is wrong with this country.
There are some really crazy people IN HERE as well. Can't wait for the games to begin.

No it wouldn't. I've actually had water that hot dumped in my lap on accident when I was in Scouts.

The coffee that burned her was over 200 degrees.. That's why it burned her the way it did..

Your facts are wrong. Coffee at its usual serving temperature will cause third degree burns.

"When tap water reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit, it can cause a third degree (full thickness) burn in just five seconds."

Actually the Grandma coffee story was later fully released. It turned out looking bad for McDonald's and what they put her through. I do agree with you about frivolous suits but that case in particular was not reported properly in the media. Sounds eerily familiar.

Actually she used the McDonald's drive thru but had an old pick-up with no drink holders or any place to put the coffee. So yeah, she put the coffee between her legs and when she took off the compression of her legs popped the lid off.

Scalding coffee and bad choices cause pain.

1.She wasn't driving. She was in a parked car.
2. over 700 people complained that they were burned by coffee at mcdonalds in a ten year span.
3. The Coffee was approximately 185 degrees F which can cause 3rd degree burns in less than 15 seconds.
4. She had 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 16% of her body and racked up 10K in hospital bills.
5. She tried at least 3 times to have McDonalds cover her hospital bills. That's all she wanted.
6. A lawyer picked up her case and sued and the jury awarded her initially 2.7 million but that was reduced down to 600K.

She only wanted to have hospital bills covered and the coffee turned down.

McDonalds was found guilty because they never turned over their phone. And found a text message between the employees in which on employee called the other one "Burner Boy"

Anyways it was not as frivolous as it seemed via the media and as we well know the media can do a lot of damage with BS facts or the lack thereof.
