Nice read on Logan Ryan

There are people who are high on Logan Ryan?

I'm high on Butler and I think the secondary will be decent enough, but Ryan isn't very good. Hopefully he won't get much playing time.

At the moment, Logan Ryan is projected to be a huge part of our CB corps--whether that be a starter on the outside opposite Butler, and/or our starting nickle back. Either way, he's definitely going to see a decent amount of reps, which isn't going to make us feel too comfy.

Consider the fact that we've gotten rid of: Revis, Browner, Arrington, Dennard. Who's left to unseat Logan Ryan from playing time, when he received a decent amount the past 2 seasons with much better talent ahead of him?

Did he really get burnt that much in the sb though?? I only remember the td before half, rest was Arrington iirc.

I think one or two plays really stand out in our minds, but I thought it was mainly Arrington as well.

"Ryan did finish the season strong. In the playoffs, quarterbacks targeted him more than any other cornerback on the Patriots. Ryan only gave up completions on only 6 of the 14 passes thrown his way (42.9 percent), which was second on the Patriots behind Butler’s 33.3 percent catch rate." (Quote from the article provided in the OP)

Ryan may have had a decent end to the season, but remember that he was covering the number 2 or 3 option, often subbing in for Browner. That is much different than playing more than 50% of the snaps.

Ryan had a decent first year and a meh second year. He did not show enough to make anybody comfortable with his performance going forward.

Yeah Arrington gave up the 3 big plays, one on each drive that led to their first 17 points. Their last score was on a short field and mostly on the ground. Ryan also had a really nice pd midway through the 2nd quarter. 3rd and 8 he was one on one against Kearse.

Revis gave up a long touchdown in SB 49? Really? That's news to me.

.
I thought he was talking about the Green Bay game. I did not know he meant the SB. Revis gave up a TD in the SB but it was not a long one.

It's the article provided in the OP, which is why I didn't quote it.

I will however, edit my response now to include the quote for those who didn't get a chance to read the article.

He was great in his rookie season. He took a step down last season. Hopefully he returns to year 1 mode.

That's how I remembered it as well. I remember Arrington being the main problem, although like I said--I don't think Ryan is putting too much confidence in us at the current moment either. Hopefully, that changes with some improved technique. It's good to see him continuing to address it during the offseason with some other well known CBs and coaches.

If we are talking about LoganRyan in a positive sense then we are going to really have problems at CB. Ryan is ok with help he's horrible without it nuff said! I can see Big Ben playing catch with our current Secondary...that said I love Malcom Butler's upside.
After what he did in the SB, I love Malcolm's backside...

Ryan also gave up the 1st down on 3rd/10 during Seattle's final drive of the game. Pathetic.

His regression shouldn't really surprise though, as this is the same trend that has befallen every drafted
CB under the current CB coach.

Revis gave up a long touchdown in that game too. Ryan will get beat as will Butler but they'll make as many plays on the football as any CB in the NFL.
Well if you consider ryan getting burned then yes they will make a lot of plays. What was this long play that Revis gave up for a touchdown you speak of?

The stats suggest that our CBs have done a fairly decent job covering the opposition's WR1 and WR2 over the past few seasons. It's been the WR3 and WR4 (as well as RB and TE) positions that have hurt us.

If this is true, the fact that Ryan may be covering more WR2s could prove to be beneficial to him. I halfway joke about this, but there may actually end up being some odd coincidence to it by the end of the year ;)
