OT: Chargers not resigning Weddle past 2015

Sign Weddle and move McCourty back to CB.

I'm not sure why he would come cheap, but if he did it would be a good signing. He's a hell of a FS, though his skillset is a bit redundant with McCourty's. Redundant or not, you could definitely play them both at the same time.

This idea should have been in Brewster's Millions. Richard Pryor could buy a sports team and spend a fortune on two players at the same position. I can't think of many better ways to squander a fortune.

I couldn't decide whether to give this a like or agree but for the Brewster's Millions reference I decided to go with none of the above.

BB has spoke glowingly about Weddle. Personally, I love his game. I'd have no issue w/ Weddle moving to FS and DMC moving to CB. Or both of them out there at the same time as EW is superior in run support and/or they can play Tampa 2.

Weddle is the kind of player you make room for. He has 2-3 top-end years left.

Get him.

Spike is SVP Football Operations (even though hes a baseball guy. Could do better than Cherrington at this point..)

I disagree with that assessment. It's obvious that the Chargers don't want to make Weddle a top 5 safety in terms of $$$ again. This doesn't mean he can't play or isn't worth a high cap number at safety. While I know we can't sign everyone, I do believe safety is a position which is underpaid in relation to cornerback. If Weddle was willing to take a $6-7 mil a year contract in 2016, where the Pats should gave plenty of cap room, I am not sure this would mean we are playing Brewster millions. Just signing an elite player to above average money...a move that has worked with other safeties from San Diego

Yeah, I ain't opposed to getting Weddle if it doesn't break the budget.

what would it take?
anyway, im all for signing weddle. great player, plus our secondary is in shambles
