Welker wants to be homer again....

You guys realize that any high profile player leaving this team will result in a media characterized "messy ending" whether that was actually the case or not, right?

I would like to see Josh Boyce's development in year 3 he's built for the slot and with any improvements he would be an INSTANT upgrade over both Amendola and Welker. IF Boyce gets it he would be the pleasant surprise in TC that nobody expected. That said as mentioned over the past three years Welker became older, slower and beat up...Welker should be on the TV Show MASH!

Didn't really sound like he had Brady's back from either a he didn't do it standpoint or the standpoint of if he did it didn't give them an edge.

Not sure how the CoP backs will emerge but there is no doubt that if here, Woody would be #1 on the depth chart.

Definitely but at this point it kind of has become automatic that whoever gets the job will be solid.

Faulk goes down, Woodhead emerges
Woodhead leaves. Vereen emerges

And at the time of Woodhead and Vereen weren't thought that highly of. Woodhead was a jests castoff and Vereen was a guy who couldn't see the field (only had 150 snaps on offense his 2nd year)

Are you serious? Boyce was cut last year and couldn't get off the practice squad until Dennard went on IR in week 17. Amendola, meanwhile, was a key factor in the playoffs.

There is no spot for Welker on this team unless Edelman and Amendola both sustain serious injuries.

If Welker hasn't signed a team by the start of the season and Edelman ends up on IR, I'm sure Welker would get a call but right now we're all set at the slot position with 2 veteran guys who are a lot younger than Welker and Boyce as a practice squad guy still being developed.

I loved Welker's toughness and commitment to the team, he was a great Patriot and it was truly sad to watch Manning accelerate the death of his career hanging him out to dry like he does all his receivers... but the reality is that he's a 34 year old slot receiver that has really slowed down and is 1 concussion away from being a vegetable.

Yep. Vereen had a few games here and there where you were like, wow (NYJ and HOU playoff game come to mind) but lacked consistency.

The team was high on White in TC last and Cadet did well in NO. We'll see how they turn out.

Woody is under contract w/ SD so I don't think there is a chance he lands here in 2015.

Maybe as Edelman insurance he knows the offense and knows TB12 so wouldn't be bad if Edelman went down and we had him.

I'll take the latter...

How did the forehead experience end up? Guys we can tell him to "GFY" but in reality he was the loser for heading off to Denver. Edelman would step into his role and would this year be an upgrade. He pretty much killed his HOF chances by going to Denver. Had he stayed here he likely would've lasted a lot longer and would've helped his legacy.

But instead, he faded off to irrelevance in Denver. His loss. Not ours.

Sorry Wes, but we have a better version of you now. His name is Julian.

Eh, they really aren't that alike. Edelman is an outside reciever. Wes is really only inside. For the record, I'd take Wes back on the minimum. Played his heart out here.

NFW

Not because of animosity. Welker, a couple playoff drops aside, was a great & gutsy Patriots contributor.
But he's done. DONE.
And it's not just that he's past his Sell By shelf date and lost it as a player, it's his health as a person that is my major concern. He needs to avoid any head trauma whatsoever. Please retire, Wes.

The people who act like his two drops are what define his career here are being ridiculous. When he played here he had plenty, and I mean plenty, of clutch plays. Especially on those third downs. I get people are upset about how things ended, but he had 672 catches. 672 catches, yet people want to focus on 2 drops. 2. Compared to 672. Makes no sense.

I agree, but you got to admit. That was game over if he caught that.
