Keep an eye out on the papers.

In a Pats FB group I'm on, someone who has had claims of occasionally knowing some inside information (we'll see how he comes out on this claim) is saying that the Cross Insurance Pavilion that will be opening in the north endzone this year (that's not new news) will have a membership tier that includes lower-bowl season tickets. And that membership tier will not involve any ongoing commitment -- you can buy a single year's membership if you want. That this premium membership tier includes lower-bowl tickets is the unreleased-but-soon-to-be-released new news.

So if this turns out to be true, that's another bloc of good seat tickets that will be made inaccessible to season ticket holders.

What is the Cross Insurance Pavilion? That's news to me. If they're putting something in the north end zone, there's ample open area for adding seats.

It's an event space that can be used for business meetings, proms, etc. Looks like the main part of it is outside the bowl of the stadium:
http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/r...rst-look-new-pavilion-and-event-space-at.html

And from a Sun-Chronicle article also back in January, which indicates it has views of the field and also opens into the lower bowl:
The 20,000-square-foot facility will be rented out for functions and used to view games at the stadium. It includes a mezzanine, outdoor terrace and access to the concourse near the seats in the 100 section.

Don't worry, its for the good of the fans. We wanted this.
Like I said before, the Krafts won't rest until a day at Gillette is an entirely passive virtual experience.

Why is this a bad thing??

Why is this a bad thing??

To the extent that people want to become/remain season ticket holders, it will reduce the number of seats available for STHs to upgrade to and will slow down processing of the waiting list.

Why do you think it's not a bad thing?

I remember when Kraft first started talking about Patriot Place. He was trying to compare it to a Disney World type experience. It's really nothing more than a mall and some restaurants around a stadium.

For the good of the 31... wait thats not the right line... WE ARE ALL PATRIOTS!!

The stadium was not built for the average Joe Pats fan. There were more bathroom stalls in old Sullivan Stadium in our section. If you need to pee during the game at Gillette you will miss SIGNIFICANT action. Unless of course you are in the expensive club sections. And I'm sure this new section will have plenty of bathrooms.

And I have been to many other "new" stadiums. The Linc in Philly has plenty of large concourses and bathrooms to name one.

I've got season tickets in the Samsung 50" LCD section.

The live experience is still better in some ways - being able to see the whole field, for example, is huge. That said, there are enough drawbacks to the live experience that it's only marginally better than watching from home, IMO. I don't think I could go to more than a couple years per year, max. Much respect to the season-ticket holders here, I dunno how you guys do it 8-10 times per year.

Kraft seemingly cares about just one section of Disney World: Profitsland
