What if Brady hadn't thrown the first SB pick?

Just a random thought . . .

Do the Patriots still win the Super Bowl if Jeremy Lane was in the game? Remember that Lane suffered a gruesome injury at the hands of Cornerback!Edelman, and was replaced by Tharald Simon, who Brady repeatedly picked on.

who was the seahawk that took a peek at lanes leg and quickly ran off lol

What if Mevis didn't give up that touchdown?

What if Mevis didn't get burned by Smith in the Ravens game?

Anyways the Super Bowl ended perfectly. I went from a extreme high after the Edelman touchdown to an extreme low with 20 seconds left in the game and the Hawks on the 1 yard line to and extreme high after the Butler interception. What an emotional roller coaster ride that was.

I despise Revised for his recent comments, but he got picked by the ref on the SB TD.

I remember thinking at the time that the 3 points we likely left on the field there were worth getting Lane out of the game. I don't think it would have changed the result if it hadn't happened though.

I don't think it was a big deal. As soon as Lane went down Seattle fans made him into the great excuse. He's a decent 6th round pick who had zero career interceptions in 4 years prior to that. And NE had no trouble moving the ball when he was in.

Still win. We were a better team, and matched up well on both sides. They were fortunate to have been close, mostly thanks to some guy that hadn't caught a pass all year (ie fluke)

Well that probably would have been 7 on that drive if no pick.

Also remember they'd be up by 7. When they scored to make it 7-0 it would be 14-0. Does Seattle go into comeback mode and try to pass more than establish Lynch?

Here's a better question, if the Patriots started out with Browner on Matthews from the get-go do the Seahawks even score more than 14 points?

In a moment of desperation because their other wide-outs failed to get open and their running game was held in check, the Seahawks turned to Matthews and he was the main spark to getting them ahead, but once the switch was made and Butler was inserted into the game, Seattle's last four drives went, punt, punt, punt, interception. Without him the Seahawks would've lost by 10+.

Regardless of Lane's injury or not, the Patriots were winning that game because they were the better team in every aspect.

Careful bringing this subject up. After a three month investigation, the NFL will conclude it's more probable than not Brady threw the pick on purpose so they could injure Lane. With the integrity of the game on the line, Brady will be banned for life by newly hired NFL front office man Ray McDonald.

I am more interested in what would have happened if Brady hadn't thrown that pick against the Colts. Would the sting operation on the ball PSI still have gone forward even without the 'evidence' or would we have avoided all of this hell? That question will haunt me because it might have been the most damaging interception in the history of the sport.

I don't remember ever seeing a hit cause a major arm injury and a major leg injury at the same time. Pretty incredible. That's car accident type stuff. Keep your head on a swivel when Edelman is around.
