Bradys appeal won't be heard by tomorrow's deadline

This is irritating and I'm disappointed that Brady has chosen to delay the process.

We need the suspension appeals process out of the way so we can move onto the court process.
Really not sure how you can blame Brady for the delay.

They could have done that the day after the AFCCG

yes, simply by not lying about "11 of 12 footballs"

Then a day later, an "out" was there by correcting the lie.

Ditto for the next 100 or so days after that

The reporting on it says the only way an appeal can be heard outside the 10 day window is if both the league and player agree to delay it.

So he obviously had to approve it, some will no doubt believe they are working on a deal but I simply believe it's his lawyer biding his time for him to figure out which way to handle it

I don't think brady gets his suspension reduced at all so I want this in the courts asap

That's complete bullsh*t. This is all on goodell.

Brady submitted his appeal. Goodell then made himself arbitrator and the NFLPA requested he remove himself, he has yet to respond.

Whoever is saying it has to be heard within 10 days are morons who are just reading the rule as it is written and not how the NFLPA sees it.

This was what Florio posted today

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL Players Association interprets the operative language of Article 46 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement to require only that a date for the appeal hearing be set within 10 days after the appeal is filed.

So goodell has end of the day Wednesday to set a date. To put this on Brady is utterly moronic.

So as reported no date has been set. Don't know if that means anything.

Here's the process I think will happen that I posted on Thursday:
1) the NFL refuses to vacate the suspension
2) law suit filed in federal court to vacate suspension
3) judge vacates suspension since Goodell did not issue it
4) Goodell imposes penalty as per the CBA (which may or may not be the same as existing)
5) Brady appeals penalty including demanding an independent arbitor
6) Goodell names himself arbitor
7) Brady files suit in court for independent arbitor
8) judge agrees that independent arbitor is needed particularly since Goodell is an important witness
9) Arbitration hearing held
10) Brady wins conclusively in arbitration

They haven't even accomplished step 1 yet and you were thinking step 9 may start by tomorrow? Good luck with that!

This type of bs is why I tried to convince one of my sons to become a lawyer.

Well, I guess if you can ignore the rules (CBA) with impunity (like the Wells investigation team did with regard to interviews), then you don't have to worry about going to court at all and can just get on with a farce of an appeal.

Even when parties to a lawsuit and their lawyers hate each other, they're commonly gracious and cooperative about scheduling issues. This is mainly for the benefit of the lawyers themselves ...

Yeah, you were skeptical of this when comparing it to Greg Hardy's timeline, which took approx. a month or so to hear the case after the initial filing of the appeal, and happened at the end of April. As we know, that date is approaching tomorrow, I believe.

That said, Florio himself has been back and forth a bit in regards to the setting of the date and its 10 day rule, so the NFL's "make it up as you go along" game may be continuing on some level. It's probably much more likely that they simply have to (usually) set a date within the 10 day period, and end up hearing the case itself several weeks down the line. Either way, kudos for bringing that to the attention of others a couple of weeks ago.

Agreed. IF Tom Brady and the NFLPA would've had anything to do with the delay, it's for good reason which would only be beneficial to their case.

NFL could have donated all this wasted deflate money spent to date and what will be spent in the future to the Wounded Warriors or similar ... I mean the NFL is constantly pimping our military for their own benefit ... spend the money wisely instead of wasting it on a witch hunt.

Yes, great point. Just think of what that kind of money could've done over time when invested, and all of the people that it could've helped. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true.

We all got a long look at how big business works, and how they couldn't care less about the average fan. It is quite disturbing.

I know how the NFL can donate 44 million dollars instead of wasting it every year.

This type of BS should be a cautionary tale on becoming a lawyer. Lawyer job dissatisfaction surveys are off the charts; especially for any misguided soul who entered into the profession based on a passion for seeing justice done.

It still boggles my mind that a guy like Goodell gets paid that kind of money.

If only I had a hotshot senator father who could have hooked me up with an internship with the Jets. That plus being the former commissioner's drinking buddy are apparently the only necessary qualifications for a $44million/per year job running the NFL.

Life is not fair.

Neither the NFLPA nor Brady himself (i.e. Brady's representatives) have said one word of criticism about this delay, so that tells me they have given the league permission to push things back.

Maybe there are backdoor negotiations ongoing?

I don't trust the NFL. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they're game is to push this decision as long as possible so Brady has served his suspension by the time they lose in court. Then they can exercise their power- even when we lose we win.

I don't trust them either--not for a second, but many feel that the NFLPA would certainly ask for a temporary order/injunction to allow him to continue playing until the case was heard. This is what happened with Jonathan Vilma.

Just think of some of the comments that we've seen here lately in regards to wanting to see Brady on another team, or leaving the fanbase altogether. Then compare those comments to some of your rants or occasional grumpiness.

There's no comparison on any level. We've seen a whole new level of crazy lately.
