there's no chance goodell can put tommy on there like peterson, is there?

screw that...put ME on the exempt list...I want MY exemption!!!!

Wouldn't it be grand if Goodell place himself on the list permanently.

No I don't think so. The exempt list was to keep guys off the field while their court cases against them were being heard, they were paid during that time. In Tom's case, he might be in court, but it will be him suing THEM; he's not charged with any kind of crime.

If I understand the rule correctly, the commissioner's exempt list is something that the team places a player on. Despite the name, it isn't something the commissioner does.

EDIT: I checked and yes it is something the team does, but Goodell has to approve it (so technically he is the final authority that can approve placing someone on that list). It also has to be agreed to by the player himself.

Unless the crime can be characterized by Brady:Goodell as Sir Thomas More:King Henry VIII?

I'd like Goodell to suddenly vanish without a trace, never to be heard from or seen again. No explanation or clues. Just gone. It would be awesome.

Brady:Goodell = Paul Atreides:Baron Vladimir Harkonnen

This is The Dope's exempt list: Colts, Ravens, Jets, Giants, Bears, Broncos. Exempt from sanctions regardless of the nature or severity of the offense.
