If you are going to write something about the Patriots please don't write about how backup QBs don't do well when thrust into the starting role.

Brady thrust into the starting role, wins SB

Cassell thrust into the starting role, top 10 in pretty much every statistical category that year and missed playoffs on tie-breakers and was only the 2nd team in the history of the NFL to miss the playoffs with 11 wins. While the 8-8 SD made the playoffs that year.

Brady's legal team will get the suspension blocked - you can pretty much bet your house on that.. Had this happened during the season maybe it would hold up. But with the entire off-season..forget it.

The Patriots have a QB on their roster with an NFL lifetime perfect passing rating of 158.3. Julian Edelman is our 3rd QB.

Normally I look forward to attending training camp practices. This year, I am too pissed-off to show up at anyplace associated with Bob Kraft. Does anyone else feel that way ?

Yep. Every year I used to go at least once a week. Not this year.

I trust BB will figure it out. But I am still interested in seeing how it all goes down if/when I becomes official that Brady doesn't go in game 1... As much as I believe in Brady's ample defense - I have very little faith in the League office and the courts, though they've been pro-athlete in cases vs Goodell, aren't a slam dunk.

JG may indeed need to play a few games - and I am hoping he's got his sh!t together if he does indeed need to play some at the start of the season.

Imagine if Edelman was in at QB for half a game... Read option city... His athleticism would be so hard to defend.

Not too sure we'd really want to see that, Ross. It sounds exciting in theory, but I wouldn't want to have our main WR running many option plays. As you note though, it's a good problem to have when your 3rd QB can do different things if needed. Let's hope we never get there!

I would think given Brady's age that Belichick needs to somehow increase Grop's activity anyways.
Brady's body is a temple and the team has flourished with his durability but father time is around the corner.

I think you're right that those ratios would likely change a bit, sure. That said, I've seen some comments suggesting that Jimmy G would see the bulk of preseason and TC reps with the ones, and we certainly know that wouldn't be the case.

If anything, maybe Jimmy sees some extended looks during the preseason a bit more than normal circumstances. It probably wouldn't amount to much more than a couple/few extra quarters in total, though. As noted, this may have been inevitable anyway.
