Lets say the Patriots are sitting 6-2 or so in November and look like they might make the playoffs (what..again? Yawn) - what steps will the NFL take to avoid the Patriots unfairly excluding the likes of Buffalo and Miami from the post-season?

In other words i'm looking for poorly worded NFL* legislation with little or no actual over-sight - which should make for the perfect Patriot-sting ****tail.

The masses would be ready for the arrogant, cheating Patriots to forced out of playoff contention - give me your thoughts.

In all honesty, i'm surely expecting some type of follow up this year after the Brady ban-hammer - my hunch would be something that removes the influence of Belichick.

All it takes is the other team realizing they wont call a hold no matter what. The famous helmet catch was only possible because of an ignored hold. Eli should have been sacked on the play but for two obvious holds. No call. That's how they can do it.

Refs get told to keep the flags against the Pats opponents to a minimum.

For example, it needs to be something more egregious than "Kuechly Coverage" before it should be called.

Bonus points to the refs if they can hit the Pats with a critical penalty that has never been called before in the entire history of the NFL.

You mean like the illegal block field goal against the Jets in 2013?

Goodell has come up with a few ways all by himself.

Pretend you are actually concerned about psi in footballs
Fabricate a sting operation in conjunction with the Colts
Hire a biased lawyer to write a pre-determined report that ignores scientific evidence, fact, and reaches a pre-determined conclusion.
Pronounce Tom Brady and the Patriots guilty of tampering with the integrity of the game, even though you have no actual proof.
Suspend Brady for 4 games (1/4 of the season)
Fine the Patriots 1 million dollars and take away a 1st and 4th round draft pick

Yeah, I think it is to attack Belichick somehow, to create distraction, tie up his tie and attention, and perhaps get him suspended mid season. We know Kraft won't fight it.

wait for a game where its snowing and single digits, measure the ball pressure, suspend brady and BB for the rest of the year. fine the patriots 8 million dollars, remove all their draft picks for 7 years, listen as robert kraft accepts the penalty for the good of the 32.

so what happens when the pats implement a sting of there own during next season and catch some other team red handed breaking rules

If I am not an owner, I would be leery of being ever non-owner's cross hairs

Taking Gronk out of the season.

I have this feeling that they can go as low as that, authorizing a bounty Gronk under the table.

The first time the Patriots trot out an exotic tactic or formation, they will be forced to surrender all playbooks and related material for review/leaking, in order to preserve league integrity..

The NFL doesn't have to do anything. The secondary, unless a move is made between now and then, will ensure the Patriots have a much, much lower chance of repeating.

Force them to play away games every time it is below 32 degrees in Foxboro..............

Rog,
I just came across a list of some great ideas to screw the Patriots this year... Believe it or not , it is on that Patriots fan website, the one that wanted you to self-fornicate and actually thought that we were biased. Can you believe that? I'm sure Bob won't mind. Just tell him it is for the good of the league....
