On Curran's show

"He's being accused of cheating, wouldn't you like to at least hear from the guy whether he did it or not?" asked Bedard. "Maybe he did do it. Maybe he did it to some extent. If I'm going to make an argument for Tom Brady in saying that he's innocent, I at least want to hear from the man saying that.

"Either you write history, or history is written about you. He's been accused of cheating and he's not denying it."

He denied it after the AFCC game in the press conference and he is now appealing it. What more is he suppose to do? If he comes out and denies it again people will just say he is lying.

Just disappointing that bedard decided to drink the kool aid on this.

I generally enjoy reading Bedard's pieces as he brings a level of intelligence to discussions. For sports journalism, that's a rare commodity.

My general issue with journalists is it can be difficult to distinguish between them and gossip queens. Ultimately, they're observers commenting on the lives/plight of others. They're not so fond when the tables are turned on them, much like gossip queens.

He and his ilk want more deflategate crap to write and talk about so he's getting all pissy that Brady isn't giving it to them. Seriously, everyone understands its a legal issue now and he's not going to talk. I can't stand how slimy everyone has shown themselves to be.

It's just like how even if you know you're innocent you never ever talk to the cops without a lawyer if you are even remotely suspected of anything. Brady is wise not to talk to the media who will take any little contradiction he says and blow it all up. I lay the blame on shows like Law and Order which always paint anyone lawyering up as some guilty criminal with something to hide.

As curran wrote, rafeal palmero shouted from the rooftops he was innocent...

and more from him wow

CIENCE AND FOOTBALL. Your attempt at a scientific analysis of Deflategate was very incomplete. Please keep in mind that over the course of half-time, according to Exponent, the Colts balls will rise .6 PSI (or almost 5% of their pressure), and we know they were measured at the very end of halftime when they ran out of time. Not to mention, Exponent forgot to incorporate the effects of evaporative cooling on the footballs. Had they, it could have also helped the Patriots cause and explained the gap in pressure drop between the two sets of balls measured at two different times. You and Peter both should leave the science to scientists. Dangerous things happen otherwise! You should really update your column to remove that section.

—Randy W.

Yeah, I won’t be doing that. The point of putting in that section was to show that the whole “science” part of this is ridiculous, on both sides. How do you know when the NFL actually got around to testing the Patriots’ balls? What about the balls that were tested at the end, right before the Colts’ balls. You and whoever else can mock Exponent if you want, but the fact remains Dr. Daniel R. Marlow, a decorated physics scholar from Princeton, signed off on the science portion of the report. So you can’t just toss it out.

The bottom line is, we’re talking about football. This isn’t a capital murder case. We’re not deciphering some complicated math proof. It’s football. The NFL itself (signed off by all the owners) lowered the bar on competitive rules violations because they shouldn’t need guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. I agree with them. If you don’t want to get busted, then stay clear of the gray line. Don’t go into the bathroom with the footballs and then lie repeatedly about it. Don’t text about pumping up footballs when your gameday duties shouldn’t ever involve the handling of footballs. Don’t call yourself the deflator, or joke about going to ESPN. And don’t decide you’re not going to fully cooperate, or withhold witnesses. Do everything by the letter, then you can tee up the science and take it for a ride, if you want. Be my guest. Until then, you have to deal with more than just the appearance of impropriety.

EXPECT BRADY TO FIGHT. You have to be kidding me trying to compare Robert Kraft’s position to that of Tom Brady’s. Kraft had many reasons to stand down but not Brady. As a team owner in the most successful sports league in the country, Kraft has billions of reasons to acquiesce and little legal recourse even if he did want to fight. For Brady this isn’t about four games or money; this is about his entire legacy. No doubt Brady is angry, and just like he’s ultra competitive on the field, I’m sure he’ll fight this battle to the very end with all of the means at his disposal. How great would it be if Roger Goodell offers a reduced penalty and Brady tells them to take a hike while he fights for full vindication.

—Michael C., Harrison, N.Y.

It wasn’t a comparison between Kraft and Brady. I think it’s apparent to everyone that they are two distinctly different situations, especially in terms of recourse. But I think you’re fooling yourself if you don’t think his own legacy was chief among Kraft’s reasoning for not taking it further.

Also, I do not share your optimism that Brady will take this all the way to the end, especially once the games start. Maybe he will. I might believe that more if Brady ever states his unequivocal innocence, something he didn’t even do during his press conference, interview with Bob Costas before the Super Bowl, and last public appearance at Salem State. If I was completely innocent, I would say it at least once, clearly, for the record.

And I hope someone asks him about josh boyer now after he said that the NE secondary coaches are the problem after seeing chung back from PHL and revis.

More importantly, it appears to have gone missing on Bedard that history is written by the victors.

Why did anyone expect any more out of this stooge? He's a damn sports journalist. The bar on these stooges is ridiculously low. The vast majority of the profession are dunces.

Doesn't this guy spend a lot of time on the Felger and Mazz show? I live outside of NE so I'm not cursed to listen to those two dipshizts as much as the rest of the base, but the fact that he takes his act to those two clown college professors is about all I ever needed to know.

The fact that he actually watches the games and then says what he thinks about the game got him a bunch of credit on this board. If I was getting paid to watch football I would think that would be the bare minimum.

And in his mailbag he seems to be somewhat condescending towards the mailer. and in his 'demands

In essence, become a robot.

Lets not be so quick to forget that on this very forum we had a weekly thread devoted to the 2 hours that Bedard was on the Felger and Mazz Show every Tuesday. This forum really liked him back then and had lengthy conversations about his observations. Now obviously we can change our opinion on him but lets not go pretending that we always thought he was an NFL stooge who was a moron.

1. Bedard has never denied that he rapes puppies.

2. A Nobel physicist signed off on the science being bunk so the appeal to authority is not very effective when it's appeal to my authority but dismissing your authority.

I don't think Bedard is a stooge and I don't think he is a moron. It's perfectly fine to agree with someone on one topic and disagree with them on another.

Bedard vs Alice in Wonderland:

Yeah, I won’t be doing that. The point of putting in that section was to show that the whole “science” part of this is ridiculous, on both sides.
"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

There's no use trying," she said; "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was younger, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

“Let the jury consider their verdict,” the King said, for about the twentieth time that day.
“No, no!” said the Queen. “Sentence first—verdict afterwards.”

“A likely story indeed!” said the Pigeon in a tone of the deepest contempt. “I’ve seen a good many little girls in my time, but never one with such a neck as that! No, no! You’re a serpent; and there’s no use denying it. I suppose you’ll be telling me next that you never tasted an egg!”

“I have tasted eggs, certainly,” said Alice, who was a very truthful child; “but little girls eat eggs quite as much as serpents do, you know.”

“I don’t believe it,” said the Pigeon; “but if they do, why then they’re a kind of serpent, that’s all I can say.”

There you go, Tom Brady gets what he deserves because he ate eggs or something.

In our "Patsfan sophistication"(very serious) we look at these article with a "crooked eye"...

However when viewed by the masses, these half truths are easily accepted as they want the Patriots to be cheaters, nothing else can explain the excellence that we have grown accustomed to..

Consider the greatest motivation of all.. facebook and twitter followers the measure of success for any modern day journalist..

I found Bedard particularly irritating during that appearance. He couldn't say the words "cheat", " cheating", "cheater" enough, at least it seemed that way to me. Just as an aside, Bedard looked like he won his neighborhood's Memorial Day Hotdog Eating Contest. What a hippo...

Felger's butt boy is seeking attention again ....

This particular thread is hysterical. During the season, Bedard's opinions are the most valued on PatsFans with one poster transcribing his Felger/Maz weekly visits verbatim which sparks considerable board traffic. When Bedard blows smoke up NE's bum, this board celebrates his "wisdom." Now that Bedard has crossed to the dark side on issue NE has been judged guilty, Bedard has become the pariah. Guess he got stupid in the off season.
Regarding Bedard's "where's Brady" question... understand where we are in this news cycle. The report, the rebuttal, the owner's defense, the owner's capitulation, the league digging in.......every party has been heard from except Brady. A lot has transpired since the Brady podium visit 5 months ago....like being judged guilty....it is only natural for the media to want "something" from Brady......and given the pause in the action this week, the media is trying to pull Brady out from "seclusion."
Personally, I agree Brady should zip it, his people should zip it, and let the process proceed as quietly as possible...ha ha. Let the league continue to demonstrate spiteful incompetence and let Goodell tighten the noose around his own neck. (we can only hope). Nothing positive can come from Brady going public once again..........just know the media currently has free time to speculate and demonize...and a silent Brady is an easy target.
