The biggest weakness on this team now is the cornerback position... our starting two right now are Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan. I have a lot of confidence in Butler, as he did very well in spot duty last season on guys like Emmanuel Sanders and Jermaine Kearse. I think he can be a solid #2 corner. Ryan on the other hand should be competing for the #3 corner job.

Pats have plenty of cap space and flexibility over the next two to three seasons, the only issue is draft pciks withe loss of the first round pick next year.

Could we bring in a guy like Jason McCourty to shore up our secondary?

He seems to be a Patriot fan, he has been in events with Devin and the Gutless Coward last year and was in the SB celebrating with the McCourty family. He must have been in the facilities before and probably know some guys on the defense due to the Dmac connection.

Here's my solution: wait for Dee Milliner to get cut by the Green Beans, then sign him and mold him into a good CB, and laugh. Danny Woodhead v2.0!

Although that may be deemed conduct detrimental to the integrity of the game, so say goodbye to a 2017 first rounder.

YES. I have been thinking the same for the past 2 month. Jason has been in the Boston area the past couple months hanging with Devin and other Patriots. Sure they are twins and thats natural...but so isn't chillin with your GF. So the fact they are both are hanging around in the Boston area tells me something might be going on. Also, I believe the chemistry that the twins will have in the secondary will make both players better. I don't see this as getting a very good CB...but more an even better one because his play will be elevated with Devin back there as well. Trading for Jason will instantly make our secondary much better IMO.

But if their has already been a trade agreed upon....then why continue to wait? Are we waiting for an LB to fully heal first? Were looking very good at that position and I think were going to trade someone from that position IMO.

Again....trading for Jason is pure speculative...but it's clear BB has to make some kind of move at CB. This is only my opinion and the fun thing about PatsFans.com is the ability to express that. None of us really know what BB has in mind at CB.

Doubtful at best. I think we are looking at summer cuts and possibly a veteran who is getting pushed out by younger players but I can't see starter talent walking through that door.

We'd need to offer up a 1st round pick for him and, well...

I agree that he should make a move of some sort, but how often does what we think he needs to do agree with what he thinks he needs to do?

Yep...agreed.

J mac would be an amazing addition.
Why it should happen: Obviously, we are iffy on CBs at the top of the depth chart. One of the biggest challenges is getting a defense cohesive enough to trust in each other. Having 2 top talents in the secondary that happen to be twins would be beneficial in many ways, including the locker room (makes me think of a much more cheery version of the Hanson twins from slapshot). Following them on FB, those 2 are as close as you would expect from twin brothers (they have one FB account for both of them).

3 reasons why it probably won't happen:
1. His $ (close to what d mac is getting paid if i remember correctly)
2. Previously stated by someone.... the Titans would have to give up their best CB.
3. What would we have to give up?

The only way the Titans would look to trade McCourty is if he got injured or arrested. This trade belongs in the Madden Talk forum.

There are two guys we might take a shot at. Justin Gilbert is taking a long time to jell and the Browns picked up their starter is FA. Gilbert was a top ten pick in 2014, and the other is Janoris Jenkins of the Rams.....to many chances for them( we had a CB that played like that)

Either way there is no way you can make a tampering charge stick with twins. They can communicate telepathically.

Annnnnd, slightly less scary drunk doublemint twins. But still oddly spooky.

In any of these hypothetical trades there are questions....

Who would the Titans want if there was such a trade??

Who would the Pats be willing to give up??

Do the Pats want to absorb his 8.8 million dollar cap hit next year??

A few minor details to be worked out... sounds good until you examine the details.

Ah, DW--glad to see that you are still coming up with trade scenarios for us to ponder ;)

I couldn't see why the Browns would be willing to part with Gilbert after only one year, but I think many of us would be willing to give Jenkins a chance. That said, do you really see the Rams allowing him to leave? I always considered him a decent CB there, considering the fact that he's scored SIX defensive touchdowns in his first few seasons.
