I dislike "dislike." There doesn't seem to be much constructive reason for it. Looking back at my own use of that rating I've used it primarily in response to an attack or insult against myself or others. Many of the ones I've received are bewildering, only a handful of them somewhat understandable. Ian, perhaps you should post a sticky guide to ratings use so they're not used cavalierly or with nasty intent.

"Dislike" wold be fine, if people didn't abuse it. Someone posting a neutral fact (i.e. "Player 'x' just got cut" in a transactions thread) should never get a "dislike" for it, for example.

I generally only use the "dislike" button if I'm responding to someone else who's demonstrated that they are using it. Normally, I'd rather just respond with a post noting my disagreement, as it usually sparks more conversation.

May I respectfully suggest that now would also be a good time to review the "Disagree" button, Ian? I don't think it's helping the tone of the discussions.
Sometimes I read what I have posted and it pisses me off. If I give my self a disagree, then I don't have to be mad at myself all the time.

Thanks, Nutter -- good point.

Sometimes I read what I've posted and I think.." Joe Kerr...King of Men"...but then I don't want to seem TOO self aggrandizing...but that's what I think and in the future I think it would help out all around if everyone just referred to me as "The King"...

It's like parents who don't want to admit Little Johnny may have gotten in trouble at school. I say "may." There are prob 3-4 people who know what happened. And, none of them are posters or Ted Wells.

Despite the fact 5 people disagreed with this, it's actually impossible to disagree with FACTS. And it is a FACT that no one knows what truly happened. And if someone disagrees, they must post why they disagree because they must know something no one else does and we need to know what that is.

In regards to a shrill the past week ripping the way this site is being maintained, I want to say that member is either clueless or callous about Ian's 15-year labor of love.

  • thousands of dollars invested
  • thousands of hours - a job pro bono
  • digging and digging for Patriots news
  • again, countless hours to know HTML, Javascript, MySQL, vBulletin, Apache, Linux, etc.
  • 'hearding cats'....for every site that gets this active, thousands fail or remain tiny because not enough members work together to make it a significant community
I've moderated sites and it's often a thankless job. Worse, a few members make noise out of proportion because someone like Ian did not defer to that self-adsorbed individual over the rest of us. When I was moderating, I wondered why I was doing this if my 'reward' was whining? Fortunately, Ian has a thicker skin...that's why I (and hopefully others) will give a hand for what he has done thru the years, including the A**lt Fr***d issues.

Speaking of our unclothed friends, there's a Boston Globe article that AFF's database has been hacked and detailed subscriber information put out for sale. Hope none of you fans subscribed! :)

Nothing soft about the team,
nothing soft about us
nothing soft about this forum.

The appearance of soft by Mr Kraft is the beef.
That does not represent us.
Brady screaming on the sideline, refusing to lose?
That is correct.
