This is irritating and I'm disappointed that Brady has chosen to delay the process.

We need the suspension appeals process out of the way so we can move onto the court process.

So this was up to Brady?

The reporting on it says the only way an appeal can be heard outside the 10 day window is if both the league and player agree to delay it.

So he obviously had to approve it, some will no doubt believe they are working on a deal but I simply believe it's his lawyer biding his time for him to figure out which way to handle it

I don't think brady gets his suspension reduced at all so I want this in the courts asap

I read that the deadline is actually Friday (10 business days) and the NFL can justify a delay because of the additional time needed to consider Brady's request for Goodell to recuse himself.

Maybe I have it wrong but I thought it was 10 days to set a date not have the hearing. Greg Hardy put in his appeal April 27 and the appeal was set May 7th for May 28th.

I think the delay is due to the fact hat Goodell is actually trying to find some evidence that would actually support his suspension.

Kessler and NFLPA would have a field day if that was the case.

The NFL is trying to figure out a way out of this mess.

Don't fret too much about this getting to court before the season, all that matters for Brady is that he gets an interlocutory injunction prior to that date.

The "discovery" phase has ended.

If Goodell considers any new evidence obtained since the punishment was announced, then all of the facts disclosed up until the time of the appeal (including the entirety of the rebuttal context report) must be reviewed by the arbitrator.

It becomes a "de novo" appeal.

This whole mess has snowballed in the wrong direction for Pats fans....it's looking more and more like Krafty Bob got to Brady and begged him to "take one for the team." I don't think we're seeing Brady until Game 5...

well at least we'd be playing the Colts.

Oh, they will rue the day...

There is nothing to read into this.
Frankly, I think once Goodell says for sure that he will not recuse himself, the NFLPA will file a motion in federal court.

Its 10 days to set the date. This is a non-issue being made into a big deal. Wow where have we heard that before?

Here's the process I think will happen that I posted on Thursday:
1) the NFL refuses to vacate the suspension
2) law suit filed in federal court to vacate suspension
3) judge vacates suspension since Goodell did not issue it
4) Goodell imposes penalty as per the CBA (which may or may not be the same as existing)
5) Brady appeals penalty including demanding an independent arbitor
6) Goodell names himself arbitor
7) Brady files suit in court for independent arbitor
8) judge agrees that independent arbitor is needed particularly since Goodell is an important witness
9) Arbitration hearing held
10) Brady wins conclusively in arbitration

They haven't even accomplished step 1 yet and you were thinking step 9 may start by tomorrow? Good luck with that!

......oh There Will Be Blood

Brady needs to fight the right way so they can't slither back under the rocks they came from.
