Why is the forum always down?

I don't post much but I've been showing up almost every day for 11 years here. 99.9% of the time I am here, this place runs beautifully. If you really feel the need to complain about something, you should find something that actually doesn't work or really functions poorly. This place is terrific, afaiac. You ought to function as well as this site, then you would see that there is no reason to complain....

One evening recently it went down almost exactly at midnight. I would have posted about that but it's surely reflected in logs Ian has already seen.
There was a network issue (I think it was Saturday night) in preparation of last night while they reworked some things. That one was unexpected and I was right in the middle of working on something when it happened, but I was glad that it was at least at that hour and not during a peak period.

I believe he was just contributing empirical evidence in order to establish as true the adage "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt."

Nobody is advocating silence, but there are far more productive and decent ways to get the point across to a website owner who is volunteering his time - i.e. try the PM to Ian or the mods. Or put it in a way that is more constructive and thought provoking like this guy: http://www.patsfans.com/new-england...d/threads/state-of-the-message-board.1120649/

Otherwise, it is just a tantrum.

LOL, it's OK, I've been at this for over 15-years and it comes with the territory. From an outside perspective I understand the perception, especially given the issues we had for a long time up until I made the software change last year. Last season was the best it's ever been and we literally had no downtime all the way up until things got bogged down when we became a target after beating Indy with all the deflate-gate talk, etc. heading into the Super Bowl.

From there we had about 75 seconds where the board froze when everyone flooded in here after the game, and then despite the huge crowd we had, it rebounded and then ran without a hitch. That might not have happened 5 years ago, so we've come a long way and nights like last night are necessary to keep it that way.

I thought it was often down because of cyberattacks by Jets fans.

Then I remembered the image most Jets fans see on their computers:

It's either down or we have re-direct and other issues. I haven't seen this many problems on any of the other team forums I visit.

NE Patriots: #1 on the field, dead last when it comes to online forums.
Following up on my earlier post @FourierSeries I will also say we're not "dead last" having looked at many other team's forums last night, but there's definitely plenty of room for improvement and I'll do my best to continue trying to take us a step further and keep us moving forward. :)

Ian thank you for all your efforts and this forum. I think it is great and appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it. All forums in all sports have technical problems or crashes because of major subject about that team absolutely nothing to worry about. We are fine thanks to you.

I'm just happy that I'm allowed to continue to post here

however, I did break a keyboard out of frustration last night........

never had an issue with this site, except when it's down for SCHEDULED maintenance.

It was three out of four days over this process so I obviously see where the perception came from, especially when things were rough a while ago. But we should be good now.

I'd like to know why my page keeps rolling back to the top for the Starbucks add. Is this happening to anyone else?

I can't even read to the bottom of a page......

I have had this problem myself the last few weeks here, extremely annoying. Didn't look at what adds were showing though and it's working fine atm.

you guys shouldn't be on the net without an adblocker.

I'm assuming you just aren't using starbux network.

Everybody has a right to voice their opinion.......my opinion is that a permanent redirection to Adult friend finder would be exactly what you deserve.

Ian, I really appreciate all that you do.....WOW, has it really been 15 years?????

unless you are a patsfans.com supporter, you shouldn't complain. it costs money to run this website and I am thankful for Ian doing his best.

You're all a bunch of girls. Oddly enough, @Ian had the most rational response and he was the least offended of anyone who posted in this thread.

I'm going to recommend that you all become Jets fans (except for Ian.)

You choose a mathematical expression as your screen name, so I would recommend you embrace a higher, more rational standard of intellect and try something more akin to scientific method or generally trouble tickets.

Don't be envious of my vastly superior educational background, kiddo. I am sure your liberal arts degree was more than sufficient for your job waiting tables.

Ian knows exactly what the issue is/has been. He addressed it in his posts and he cleared things up in the process.

Yeah, my son was just a baby (he's 16) and my daughter was four (she's 19 now). Crazy how fast it's gone by.

Lol, I'm going to shut this down before it gets out of hand. Thanks for your patience everybody and hope you all had a good holiday weekend. ;)

You overestimate yourself. Ian kept NEM around for 10 years. He's a saint who tolerates everyone. :D

You're still a freeloader complaining about a free buffet.
