Not to mention that Goodell's recent quote that he wants to hear "new information" actually violates the arbitration process. Goodell already bungling the appeals process before it even begins! *facepalm*

Check out this article on the topic:
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...information-makes-for-confusing-brady-appeal/

Goodell dug a hole for himself so deep he can't get out. If he lets an independent arbitrator take on the appeal, the Wells report will be shred and revealed the sham it is. If he refuses and makes himself the arbitrator, the NFLPA sues and goes to court where the Wells report gets torn to shreds and revealed the sham it is.

Millions upon millions were spent for this Wells "investigation". Goodell in a no win situation. Goodell brought it upon himself. To court Brady goes and to the unemployment line Goodell goes.

either Goody is a moron OR additional info that exposes TB.

If there was anything else it would have been in the report or would have been leaked out by the nfl mafia. goodell is just a moron and wants to ensure Brady serves a suspension and then if he takes it to court and it is overturned goodell can say "Don't hat me, I upheld the suspension"

I think the phone is a union issue. They don't want TB12 to give up his phone. Tom could just hand his phone to his agent. Nothing to see Rog. Rog would have to say ok and lift suspension.

I think we give them too much credit. I don't think there is an alterior motive to fight the union over phones, I don't think there is a plan to reduce Brady's suspension to zero to keep this from the courts.

The NFL believes deep down that Brady and the team are guilty. They believe that Brady doesn't want to go to court and possibly have to show his phone. It is in essence their impotent threat, because they believe that threat will keep Brady from fighting. They believe there are texts on his phone that say "Hey guys lets secretly deflate footballs below 12.5 after the refs check them." They believe that the courts will find the Wells report convincing. They believe that it doesn't matter if they blow off procedures because they have the truth in their side.

They probably have been blowing off their lawyers advice, they don't care because they think they're right.

All of the NFL's decisions make sense if you put yourself in the mindset of a moron.

I think the NFL front office belief is that they're going to drive their steamroller until someone stops them.......which probably means legal action in a real court of law.....they're basically going to reject Brady's appeal and say 'see you in court'

it is actually too late for the mto do anything else given the way they operate

I could see the suspension getting reduced, but even then they would still end up in court I'm bettering. I would be shocked if Brady's suspension is overturned entirely in appeal, which is what I think it would take for this to stay out of the courtroom.

I guess the braintrust of the NFL doesn't realize that messages can be accessed either through the originator or receiver. If the NFL has the phones of McNally and Jaz then they have the messages from Brady unless there is a third secret deflator that Brady is communicating with. Of course the braintrust was unfamiliar with the ideal gas law too.

The nfl front office morons' Holy Grail fantasy/hope is to have a text between Brady and BB discussing plans to deflate footballs

NFL radio says Goodell staying put is music to Kesslers ears. Its just what Brady and his lawyers want.

They also brought up that Goodell loses this round of player discipline, that it would be strike 3 and severely diminish his rep as commissioner. Vilma served 0 games of a 16 game suspension. If Brady beats him Goodell is nothing but the Wizard of the NFL behind the curtain pulling levers.

I guess that makes Kraft the cowardly lion.

I think Goodell's and the NFL's interests have diverged quite a bit, in that his interests are headlined by him keeping his job.

E.g., the league's interests would be served by Brady being cleared. However, to Goodell personally that would be devastating.

Your premise may be true but what are the chances of a high profile EMPLOYEE costing you 40 million $ a year who not once, not twice, not three times, but now FOUR TIMES blowing the pooch on a single aspect of his responsibility and then not losing his job???
The fact that Goodell stills maintains the support of the OWNERS speaks much more loudly about who is behind the curtain pulling his strings than about Goodell's being a lone ranger walking his own path and continually ending up in a pile of manure.

There must be a nucleus of owners who are running this game based on a presently unknown agenda.
But rest assured no matter how many are actually involved, that this group includes all the power brokers.

We can know this by what happened in San Fran after Kraft made his silent threat to sue and put up web pages of factual info punching big holes in the deflategate Well's Report and revealing emails from the NFL*HQ.

When Kraft arrived in San Fran he found absolutely no support from any owner. That is why he folded because it was 1 against 31.
Goodell can not garner that much support without major OWNER / POWER BROKERS being in his corner and okaying everything he does. This is why there is no dissension about spending 20 million on a report that would be a script for Saturday Night Live if it did not have real life consequences for the Pats and TB12.

@AdamSchefter
NFL rejected NFLPA Motion that Roger recuse himself from appeal, per source.

I notice you updated your headline with the news that the NFL had corrected an Adam Schefter's report that the "NFL rejected NFLPA Motion that Roger recuse himself from appeal, per source." Correcting it to read NFL* says no decision has been made.

THIS WAS A TRULY AMAZING CORRECTION OF MISINFORMATION BY THE NFL* A VIRTUAL LIGHT SPEED CORRECTION.
It tells us all we need to know about the NFL*s non correction of Mort's -2Lbs PSI below the limit allowed per league rule on all Pats balls when measured at half time of the AFC game. Which was grossly in error and has yet to be corrected.

Guess we will have to wait for the JUDGE to correct that one.

So someone on here said that who was hearing the appeal and when the date would be needed to be decided by yesterday. But, unless I'm mistaken, we still haven't heard anything official from the NFL in response to the NFLPA decision to appeal and their demands that
- the penalty be vacated
- Goodell excuse himself from hearing the appeal
Did I miss something? I keep looking for an NFL announcement on these issues and not seeing anything...

It's kabuke theatre. It doesn't matter when Goodell hears the appeal he's not reducing it because to do so would mean their 1 million fine and first rounder were even more inappropriate than they already are. Goodell is going to keep it at four to show how tough he is and how righteous their clownshow investigation was. Brady is going to have to take the NFL to court because they are completely full of themselves and think they can get away with anything. Hopefully Brady calls their bluff and Kraft stays the hell out of it.

"Ahh, but the strawberries that's... that's where I had them. They laughed at me and made jokes but I proved beyond the shadow of a doubt and with... geometric logic..."

The NFL will try and delay the appeal and the decision as much as possible forcing brady to make choice close to the start of the season if he wants to go to court and using all possibilities to not let the NFLPA go to court before late to start of the season so that brady may be still having to sit out until the court hearings are heard. Iam not sure if brady can get a stay order and play games and fight in the court.

I agree the league is up to no good, but I can't figure out why the union and Brady's reps are going along with this delay.
