I must be missing something because all I see is a businessman who didn't file an appeal that he apparently felt stood no reasonable chance (and saying he'd stop publicly complaining about the findings of guilt and over-the-top penalties). Admittedly, it wouldn't have been my choice, but there are some negative consequences for the League when the owners start fighting amongst themselves - and there are good reasons to work to preserve the League despite its very obvious flaws.
Tom Brady is the right person to fight this as he is an employee, a union member and has specific rights per the CBA and federal labor law.
Now back to the regularly scheduled agenda of despising Bob Kraft.
The average fan doesn't take a step back and acknowledge that this is a ruthless, cut-throat business. Bob loves TB but loves his net worth of $4.3b more.I must be missing something because all I see is a businessman who didn't file an appeal that he apparently felt stood no reasonable chance (and saying he'd stop publicly complaining about the findings of guilt and over-the-top penalties). Good post. I agree that Bob was wrestling with a ton of inner turmoil and unanswered questions. Maybe Bob did receive some handskake concessions to sway him to side of Goody. We'll never know but clearly once he checked into SF, the money side of his brain took over.I think Robert Kraft loves what he believes his legacy is most of all, and confused trying to preserve that with "the best interests of the Patriots.," He wanted to be remembered as "The man who saved football," and saw that slipping away as he challenged the league. He left New England defiant but one day around the other owners melted that away and left him alone at a table in the billionaire boys club cafeteria, and he simply could not take being the outsider. So he abandoned the team and fans and rationalized it away as in the best interests of the team and league. Big mistake, by kowtowing to the other owners he left the fans in a state of outrage, and while that will subside with time it is hard to imagine things ever going back to the way they were with Patriot fans, most of whom want him to step aside and allow Johnathon to take over as team president. And personally that's my hope as well.
All that said I do think it's time for the hyperbole to start to subside. I get the anger and outrage but really hope that from now on people can express it without calling him a filthy scumbag and wishing death upon him. And as pissed off as I have been I truly hope that when Kraft does appear in front of the fans they don't boo him or hurl nasty insults at him, to do so is classless and would make Patriot fans look like childish idiots. And I don't think it would go over well with the players and would cause a real rift between the players and fans. I think Kraft is going to need to put his ego aside when it comes to raising the championship banner and would be wise to delegate that honor to someone like Tedy Bruschi, who is unanimously beloved and respected by Patriot fans, and would allow the team and fans to be on the same page. If Kraft doesn't pass the torch hopefully he will be wise enough to maintain a really low profile from here on our, so as to not provoke the fans and set up what could be an ugly scene.
Fortunately for us the fight is not over, even if it is for Kraft. We still have Brady and his pit bull lawyer to support, and hopefully Curran and others keep up the effort to destroy Gödel's credibility and pave the way for his eventual ouster.
For me I'm done being angry about Kraft's capitulation and although I will obviously follow the Brady saga I'm hoping to get back to real football talk in the near future. They have many of the pieces they need to be a championship team again this season but huge a marks at the corner positions. I trust that Belichick know what he's doing and we have the fix in place when the season comes around and I'm ready to get back to enjoying football while holding both middle fingers up high and proud for the other 31 to see.

I wouldn't rule it out.I honestly don't think it was about money, I think it was about his place among the owners. Kind of like a cafeteria scene in OZ where he was all alone at a table and had to get back in their good graces. He folded for himself while convincing himself it was what was best for the team.
