Football Speculation: Muhammad Wilkerson Unhappy in Jetsland

Can only hope so. Although in all honesty if we did that would probably lead to a 25million dollar investigation and loss of 3 1st round picks. Could only imagine if actual evidence was found.

I assume you are referring to the Sons of Anarchy? Which I agree is a lame nick name.
Jets sucked balls last year (pun intended), but you and I can't deny the talent they had on there Dline, which has arguably gotten better.

Don't be reasonable. I'm trying to hate you because **** everybody not us right now.

That's what they say. Glad the league office is unbiased and fair.

Yeah, man--hard to deny the fact that they've improved in a lot of areas. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Geno Smith was already named the starting QB :)

Well I guess they could of named the guy with the broken leg the starter. It would be a great competition Geno, guy with broken leg, Matt Friggin Simms and the 4th round rookie.

Hopefully Geno sucks against us this season for a change, like he does against everyone else.

Well, considering that there aren't any games until mid-September, it was interesting to hear that it's definitely Smith's job to lose going into week one.

You won't be hearing any complaints around here, that's for sure. Personally, I think both Petty and Fitzpatrick are going to pull ahead in that race about halfway through the season, but I'm hoping that your front office doesn't agree.

When you consider the Jets salary cap issues, this trade might not appear as fantastic as first blush.

Right now the 2015 NFL salary cap is $143.28 million.

The Jets cap number right now is $145.3 million.
http://overthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets/

So the Jets are also 17 million dollars in salary over the CAP right NOW with an actual dollar figure of $160.6 million.

The Jets are going to need to make some hard decisions just to get down to the current allowed Cap number. And they sure as hell can't afford to give Wilkerson a raise this season. And that's exactly why he's threatening to Hold Out and has missed OTAs so far.

Before any raises - Wilkerson counts for 6.9m against the Jets cap.

The Patriots have a chance to offer the Jets draft picks to give them salary cap relief, and then lock Wilkerson into a long term deal.

Win-win. Jets become cap compliant, and we add a talent who can contribute to our defense right away. Another winning part of this potential trade -- Revis' 16m dollar cap number essentially might force the Jets to trade away Wilkerson.
Incorrect. The Jets are not over the cap. No team is allowed to be over the cap after the start of the league year, which was when free agency started. You are looking at the wrong number as you don't look at top 51, so you also count all the camp bodies that they can't keep because they are too many for the 53 man roster. Jets actually have $6.01M in cap space right now according to the NFLPA

I hope we tamper and just pay the fine. The league has already made it clear that them taking tampering "seriously" is worth only $100k fine. 1/10th of what it costs to refuse a 5th interview for one of your part time employees because you know, integrity of the game or something. Not to mention the draft picks.

Their d-line was elite. Probably won them 3 games. Can't hold the complete lack of WRs, secondary, LBs and QB against the DL.

Yes that's the rule for 31 teams. If we get caught doing that its a $1M fine, loss of a first rd pick, and afterlife in hell ....

Kraft should begin tampering with him immediately. After all, it's only a $100,000 fine to do that nowadays. I'm sure he can use the Jaws of Life to pry open his wallet, blow the dust out of it, and pay the league.

Trade him to a lousy team in the NFC for their first rounder where he reworks his contract for a stupid amount of money..

Let him play the season there while we go through are pangs for one season..

MO gets cut after the bad team shows no improvement...and the staff that trades for him gets canned..

We give him a one year contract at a high salary..

We win the Super Bowl. (Meanwhile Woody Johnson publicly expresses a desire to have, him back..)..

Jets take him back..

Woody gets fined 25$ for tampering..

Kraft should hold a press conference and get one of the Pats' media lap dogs to ask him about Wilkerson so that he can say, "Muhammad is a great player. I'd love for Muhammad to come here."

Dare Goodell to fine him more than $100,000.
Oh he would, and say it was due to arrogance that he had to give the Jets our 2nd round pick in 2016.

Go do it on a jet site.

Forget trading for him, why not sign him while he's still a Jet? Hope Bob isn't too cheap to pay the 100k fine.

100k fine for the Jets... I'm sure if the Patriots did the exact same thing, there would be 24/7 news coverage of it with people screaming about the integrity of the game and Goodell would wipe out their entire 2017 draft
