With Muhammad Wilkerson reportedly unhappy with his contract situation with the Jets. Would the Patriots be prudent to inquire about a trade? Wilkerson is an impact player at the defensive line position. And the Jets might be persuaded to give up a disgruntled employee for a draft pick or two.

Plus it would further fuel the rivalry, Wilkerson vs Revis. Which is the better defensive choice investing resources to load up on DL or loading up at CB?

A defensive line of Chandler Jones, Malcolm Brown, Dominique Easley, and Muhammad Wilkerson could be Devastating! Who needs corners? We'll pancake you before you get the ball off!

If only... Can't see it happening though.

Do it Kraft, you owe us.

While we're at it, let's get Larry Fitzgerald and a 1st from Houston.

Never going to happen, so put this to bed now. Forget the history between the teams, you never trade to a division rival.

I highly doubt the Jets would trade anyone here.

When you consider the Jets salary cap issues, this trade might not appear as fantastic as first blush.

Right now the 2015 NFL salary cap is $143.28 million.

The Jets cap number right now is $145.3 million.

So the Jets are also 17 million dollars in salary over the CAP right NOW with an actual dollar figure of $160.6 million.

The Jets are going to need to make some hard decisions just to get down to the current allowed Cap number. And they sure as hell can't afford to give Wilkerson a raise this season. And that's exactly why he's threatening to Hold Out and has missed OTAs so far.

Before any raises - Wilkerson counts for 6.9m against the Jets cap.

The Patriots have a chance to offer the Jets draft picks to give them salary cap relief, and then lock Wilkerson into a long term deal.

Win-win. Jets become cap compliant, and we add a talent who can contribute to our defense right away. Another winning part of this potential trade -- Revis' 16m dollar cap number essentially might force the Jets to trade away Wilkerson.

Wilkerson refuses to show up and play for 7m dollars, so I doubt Bill Belichick is going to fork over a mega pact long term deal, which includes 1st or 2nd round draft picks. It'd be great if it happened, though.

Not a cap guy, but my understanding is the Jets have plenty of cap flexibility next year. I am sure Wilkerson is not happy with his contract status, but the Jets control him for the next 2 years. If Mo is willing to work for 9-10 mil a year, then I think a deal gets done. If not, then the Jets still control his next 2 years and have this Williams kid who could possibly replace him.

If I was GM I would try to pay him what he deserves and sign him to a contract that would allow the Jets to trade him with out a big cap hit. Mo is hitting his prime, if there is a great QB coming up in the draft in the next couple of years I would consider trading in order to move up and secure said QB. But beyond a QB type of trade I keep him cause guys like him don't grow on trees.

In the mean time the Jets have a Super unit at D Line.
Coples would be the one I would look to trade first, hopefully he comes on this year in this new system.

Forget trading for him, why not sign him while he's still a Jet? Hope Bob isn't too cheap to pay the 100k fine.

Well I suppose that's another idea, Maybe MO is in negotiations with Beli as we speak?

Can only hope so. Although in all honesty if we did that would probably lead to a 25million dollar investigation and loss of 3 1st round picks. Could only imagine if actual evidence was found.

Kraft should hold a press conference and get one of the Pats' media lap dogs to ask him about Wilkerson so that he can say, "Muhammad is a great player. I'd love for Muhammad to come here."

Dare Goodell to fine him more than $100,000.

The sad thing is that Woody Johnson said a hell of a lot more than that about Revis.

He spoke in financial terms and claimed that "he'd happily have paid him what the Patriots did" (slight paraphrase).

It's adorable your 4 win team gave their D-line a nickname.

I think the Bucs and the Titans need awesome nicknames too.

I assume you are referring to the Sons of Anarchy? Which I agree is a lame nick name.
Jets sucked balls last year (pun intended), but you and I can't deny the talent they had on there Dline, which has arguably gotten better.
