Besides Kraft, who are other hometown sports figures we've come to despise?

Bill Buckner comes to mind....

I don't blame Buckner.

Now, Gedman...

The only thing that even remotely compares is the Red Sox owner who sold off Babe Ruth.

Not good company to be in.
Harry Frazee (?sp). He used the money to finance the musical No No Nanette on Broadway.....

And Schiraldi and McNamara for keeping him in when Stapleton had replaced him defensively all season..Who said we Bostonians don't have long memories????

Both Buckner and Welker were truly clutch players in Boston, so better examples must come to mind.
I can think of one clutch catch Welker didn't make.....

I don't totally get the hate for Ray Allen. It bugs me a bit that he went to the Heat, but let's not forget that Danny Ainge spent like 2 years trying to trade him before he got fed up and left.

Don't get the Buckner hate either. Maybe I was just too young, but Buckner tried his best in a bad situation and screwed up. Shouldn't have even been on the field in the first place. Seems petty and lame to vilify someone for trying his best and failing.

If we're talking justifiable hatred, let's start with Roger Clemens. **** that guy.

You exaggerate.

The Celtic owner who drove Red Auerbach away was worse.

The Gastons were pretty bad too.

I have been saying this since 86 about Gedman dodging all the blame for that horrendous outcome. That pitch from Stanley should have been caught or blocked. That's what allowed the winning run to go from first to second, where he could score on the subsequent error. What some Sox fans may forget is that the Mets had no one else in the bullpen as Orosco and McDowell had already been used. That's why the pitch Gedman missed was so critical. And he kept quiet and let Stanley, Schiraldi, and Buckner accept the blame for that inning. All right, back to football...

That owner was John Y. Brown. As the story goes, Red was ready to sign on with the Knicks, but a cab driver helped talk him out of it. Okay, now for real this time, I will go back to football.

I never despised Buckner, or any other player who tried and failed. That's why they play the games and why I watched the games.

I did, however, come to despise many people BECAUSE they despised Buckner, since they couldn't wear his jock strap.

Kraft is starting to chase Harry Frazee, which is pretty remarkable given the remarkable success of the Kraft era with the Patriots.

But then, Frazee's Red Sox won the World Series in '16 and '18, too, so the fall from grace can be hard and swift indeed.
