I've been posting this on the board for a while. The media power of the NFL approaches singular. Look at the ratings and the amount of time it can hold those ratings. Now name one other content producer that can match that -- there isn't any.
Ever see a star hold out from a hit show for more money from the network? Now imagine that star with hundreds of times that power. The NFL can/will get away with shams and get ballwashing media coverage so long as it has this kind of power. Until/if their ratings go down markedly, this just is what it is....

I'm actually glad that Goodell had his press conference today because it put to bed once and for all anyone who was defending Kraft under the assumption that he must have made a deal or have known something we don't.

Choosing to believe that goodell is a snake who can't be trusted *except* when he's taking a dump on the Patriots is akin to acting like Ted Wells.

I almost crashed my car when he said something to effect of "everyone must follow the rules and punishments are handled uniformly".. uhhh so why did the Vikings and Panthers get nothing for getting caught tampering with the balls but the Pats get THE BIGGEST PUNISHMENT in league history and Brady suspended for "more probably than not" tampering with the balls. Does that sound uniform? What a pompous DB.

Not that I think there was or is any deal but did people really expect him to come out and say "yep we made a deal and Brady's suspension will be overturned". goodell has to keep the charade that he is the one in control and it has to look like it was his sole decision not some compromise.

In his press conference goodell said about "Seeing if Tom could bring clarity and new information". That's Goodell's little out in this if there is any kind of deal.
